DeepSeek Harness(DSH)implements feature extensions through plugins. During long conversations or tool calls in the Web GUI client, the interface interaction is relatively monotonous and lacks visual feedback. The GrokBot desktop pet plugin ports the original GrokBot pet to DSH, adding interactive visual elements and practical data displays to the Web client.
Installation and Activation¶
Use the DSH CLI to install the plugin package:
dsh plugin --profile web add @edge-hh/dsh-grokbot-pet
After installation, restart the dsh web service and refresh the browser(Ctrl+Shift+R). The desktop pet will appear in the upper-right area of the conversation input box. To uninstall it, run the following command and restart the service:
dsh plugin --profile web remove @edge-hh/dsh-grokbot-pet
Core Features¶
This plugin provides the following capabilities:
- Rendering and Animation
- Ported from the rendering logic of LaoA-GrokBot.
- Supports 6 official emotion rings(idle, thinking, working, happy, listening, surprised).
- Includes 3D gaze effects, blinking animation, and spring-like deformation effects.
- Appearance Customization

- Supports combining 4 body parts with 4 playful accessories.
- The settings page supports real-time preview.
- Physical Interaction

- If the dragging speed exceeds the threshold(default 120 px/s), releasing the pet will cause it to be “flung.”
- The pet bounces off boundaries and the input box when collided.
- A drag distance under 24px is treated as movement only and does not trigger flinging.
- Interaction and Feedback
- The eyes follow mouse movement(enabled by default; can be disabled in settings).
- Provides 6 quick actions(happy, surprised, listening, thinking, working, idle).
- Supports renaming the pet in settings, with the bubble title and prompt text updated synchronously.
- Integrates sound effects(can be disabled)for request, tool-call, turn, and bounce feedback.
- Supports desktop notifications(can be disabled); authorization must be granted through the right-click menu.
- Supports hiding/showing the pet through the right-click menu, taking effect immediately.
- Practical Bubbles
- Usage Bubble: Displays the token usage and estimated cost for a turn after each round of conversation ends(pricing is for reference only).
- Progress Bubble: Displays the tool name, request count, step count, elapsed time, and progress bar.
Usage¶
- Control and Dressing: Right-click the desktop pet to open a menu that combines dressing and control options.
- Notification Authorization: Enter the control options through the right-click menu to authorize desktop notifications.
- Settings: On the DSH settings page, you can change the pet’s name and view a real-time preview of its appearance.
Notes¶
- Data Source: The pet appearance data is taken from the LaoA-GrokBot project(MIT License).
- Runtime Dependencies: The
react, cordis, and@deepseek-ai/*official packages required by the plugin are provided by dsh web and will not be downloaded separately during installation. - Pricing Note: The cost estimate in the usage bubble is based on approximate DeepSeek official pricing(Input ¥2 / Output ¥8 / Cache read ¥0.5 / Cache write ¥2 per million tokens), for reference only and not an exact bill.
