Introduction

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin system emphasizes that “everything is a plugin.” Developers often need to start a Web session on a desktop computer and then check its status, verify mobile rendering, or handle urgent tasks on a phone or tablet. Conventional remote access solutions usually require setting up a relay server, linking a cloud account, or configuring a complex network environment, which is often too heavyweight for simple same-network access needs.

dsh-local-link aims to solve this problem. It is a lightweight plugin that allows other devices within the same trusted network—such as phones, tablets, and computers—to scan a QR code and directly access the currently running DSH Web session.

Plugin Positioning

  • Core functionality: Scan a QR code to access the current DSH Web session.
  • Maintainer: donoteatme.
  • License: MIT.
  • Version: The latest version is 1.2.3.

Core Capabilities

This plugin does not change the core logic of DSH; it only provides an access layer and view adaptation:

  • Same-network access: Within the same trusted private network, other devices can be connected to the current session via a QR code or one-time link.
  • Mobile adaptation: When the device viewport width is 834 CSS pixels or less, a responsive mobile view is applied automatically, addressing the issues of crowded desktop navigation and inconvenient operations.
  • Zero-dependency access: No hosted relay, cloud account, separate native app, or chat UI replacement is required.
  • State synchronization: It maintains the same real-time conversation, permissions, workspace, and plugin interfaces as the desktop client.

Installation and Enablement

Before installation, make sure DeepSeek Harness Web mode is installed and running.

  1. Stop the currently running dsh web process.
  2. Run the installation command in the terminal:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-local-link
  1. Restart Harness Web:
dsh web

Usage Steps

After configuration, the usage flow is as follows:

  1. On the computer, open and select the DSH session you want to view.
  2. Find and click Local access at the bottom of the Harness sidebar.
  3. Use a phone or tablet to scan the QR code displayed on the screen, or copy the displayed one-time link.
  4. The first browser that uses the invitation will automatically open the session currently selected on the desktop.

At this point, the browser on the device will have access to all the context and permissions of the current session. For phones and any device with a viewport width of 834 CSS pixels or less, the system automatically switches to Mobile View.

Security Boundaries and Limitations

  • Network environment: The gateway uses plain HTTP only and is designed exclusively for trusted private networks. Exposing the port to the public internet or using it on public Wi-Fi is strictly prohibited.
  • Expiration: The invitation code is one-time use by default and expires after five minutes. It must be regenerated if it has expired.
  • Permission scope: Remote access can only use the permissions of the current session. Some host-side administrative functions—such as Loopback-only features—are unavailable on the remote side.

Use Cases

  • Developers verifying mobile UI rendering.
  • Viewing mobile-adapted chat history on a non-mobile device.
  • Temporary session sharing within the same network, without configuring a VPN or cloud service.

Summary

dsh-local-link provides a low-barrier local LAN access solution and addresses state synchronization and view adaptation for DSH Web in multi-device scenarios. Its design remains restrained: it does not introduce additional business logic and serves only as a lightweight complement to the existing Harness Web client.
