DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a pluggable model inference framework. In multi-agent scenarios, uniformly controlling each agent’s output format (such as code style and document structure) is a common requirement. The dsh-output-styles plugin adds an “Output Styles” settings page to DSH Web, allowing users to preset or customize styles and inject them directly into an agent’s system prompt.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities in DSH Web:

  1. Settings Page: Adds an “Output Styles” page to the dsh web settings dialog.
  2. Built-in Styles: Provides five out-of-the-box output styles: Default, Concise, Explanatory, Learning, Formal.
  3. Custom Styles: Supports creating named custom styles via Markdown instructions, with configurable name and description.
  4. Real-time Effect: The selected style takes effect from the “next model step” and is included in all agents’ system prompts, without restarting the service.
  5. Persistent Storage: User-defined styles are saved in the configuration file and remain effective after a restart.
  6. File Support: The instruction field supports pasting a complete style file directly (for example, Claude Code output styles or Agent Skills’ SKILL.md).

Installation and Activation

The plugin is provided as an npm package. Use the following installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add @auggieteo/dsh-output-styles

After installation, restart dsh web, and the “Output Styles” page will be available in the settings menu. The plugin automatically injects its cordis.patch.yml into DSH’s layer stack, with no manual configuration required.

Usage

  1. Open Settings → Output Styles.
  2. Select a built-in style from the list, or click the “Create” button.
  3. In edit mode, modify the name, description, or instruction content of a style row.
  4. Click “Save” to apply changes, or click “Cancel” to restore the original state.
  5. User-defined styles are persistently stored under the output-styles configuration key in ~/.dsh/profiles/<profile>/cordis.patch.yml.

Notes

  • Environment Requirements: Requires a Node.js 20+ environment and must be used with DSH’s Web profile (tested with version 0.2.0-rc.2).
  • Dependencies: All runtime dependencies are provided by DSH; the plugin itself does not bundle peer dependencies.
  • Frontmatter Limitations: Although the instruction field supports pasting a file, it only supports a flat key: value format. Only Name and Description are read; other keys are ignored.
  • Session-only Install: The plugin supports dynamic definition at runtime (session-only install). An agent can inject this plugin into the current DSH process via a tool, without persistent deployment at the file level.
