Introduction

When developing or invoking models in the DSH environment, you may need to check your API balance frequently to avoid unexpected charges. Constantly switching to the web interface to check is inefficient and disrupts your workflow. The dsh-balance-chip plugin integrates balance checks into the client interface, providing a persistent status at the bottom of the sidebar and in the lower-right corner.

What It Is

The plugin is maintained by AKUSH99 and released under the MIT license. It reads the API Key from the local credentials store and displays the current DeepSeek API balance in the DSH client.

Installation

Install the plugin using the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:AKUSH99/dsh-balance-chip

After installation, restart dsh web to apply the changes.

Core Features

The plugin provides two display locations in the interface:

  1. Bottom of the Sidebar: Appears as a status dot, located next to the settings option.
  2. Lower-Right Corner Chip: Always visible and does not block mouse clicks by default (pointer-events: none).

Both displays refresh automatically every 60 seconds. Hover over them to view the currency and last update time.

Status colors are indicated as follows:
* Green: Balance ≥ $5
* Orange: Balance < $5
* Red: Request error

Security Mechanism

The plugin itself does not store the API Key. The Key is read from the local DSH credentials store only at runtime and is used only for requests to the official balance endpoint. The plugin contains no telemetry data and has no external dependencies.

Prerequisites

Before use, ensure that the credentials store contains the DEEPSEEK_API_KEY reference. This reference can be configured through the web interface’s model page.

Typical Usage

After installing and restarting dsh web, the plugin automatically begins polling. You can see the chip in the lower-right corner of the main interface and the status dot at the bottom of the sidebar.

Notes

The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions. Before installing, please review the source code and license (MIT).

Troubleshooting

  • Displays Key?: The DEEPSEEK_API_KEY reference is missing from the credentials store.
  • Displays …: The first polling request has not completed yet. Wait a few seconds.
  • Displays red: Cannot connect to the official balance endpoint or the Key is invalid. Check your network and Key configuration.

Ecosystem Context

The DSH philosophy is “everything is a plugin.” This plugin is hosted in the community catalog and is not affiliated with the official DeepSeek application.
