In DeepSeek Harness (DSH) use cases, a single linear conversation flow often struggles to meet the needs of parallel tasks. While the main session is active, handling another independent conversation thread simultaneously usually requires switching context or interrupting the current task. The dsh-side-session plugin solves this by leting you start an independent, continuable parallel session with one click from the conversation header while the main session is running.
Plugin Overview¶
- Plugin Name: dsh-side-session
- Maintainer: 123dbl
- License: MIT
- Core Value: Start an independent, continuable parallel session with one click from the conversation header while the DSH main session is running.
Core Features¶
- Command Integration: Registers the host command
/side-chat(side session), and displays it in the input box’s “+” command menu. - Subagent Spawning: Spawns a continuable subagent under the current session, with a fixed opening message and automatic timestamp label.
- Automatic View Navigation: The frontend automatically navigates to the official conversation view of the new side session, allowing the user to take over directly.
- Minimal Interaction: No panels, pop-ups, or settings; interaction is only through the command menu entry.
Installation and Enablement¶
The plugin can be loaded using the official installation command.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:123dbl/dsh-side-session
After installation, the plugin automatically becomes effective in the Web client.
Typical Usage¶
- Click “+” in the conversation input box (or directly enter
/), then select side-chat from the popup menu. - The browser interface automatically navigates and opens a new side session view.
- Ask questions in the new view; the main session and side session can run in parallel without interfering with each other.
Environment Requirements¶
The following prerequisites must be met to use this plugin:
- Host Support: The running DSH host must support the
ctx.subagents.startContinuableinterface for spawning subagents. - Client Events: The Web client must be able to listen for the
command/executedevent to handle and open the new session view.
Conclusion¶
dsh-side-session provides DSH users with lightweight parallel conversation capability, suitable for scenarios that require maintaining multiple independent conversation threads. For more technical details and source code, refer to the plugin directory page or GitHub repository.
