DeepSeek Harness (DSH) models expose different reasoning intensity levels. Existing controls sometimes make it hard to intuitively distinguish capabilities or may be redundant. The DSH Reasoning Slider aims to provide concise reasoning-intensity control in the input box, reflecting the actual capabilities of the model, without fabricating capabilities or altering provider routing.

The plugin is maintained by WSL043 under the MIT License. It does not read DeepSeek balances or quotas, does not collect telemetry, and does not make independent network requests.

Core Features

  • Identifies model capabilities: Shows only the levels actually supported by the current model; no fabricated options.
  • Low overhead: While dragging, it performs only local previews; it submits to DSH once after release.
  • Native style: Separates model and intensity capsules and follows DSH’s design variables and interfaces.
  • Personalized color themes: Supports a unified setting for all models or per-model saved settings.
  • Keyboard support: Provides explicit keyboard selection.
  • Clear privacy: Does not read credentials or accounts, does not collect telemetry, and does not make independent network requests.

Three Modes

Choose in Settings -> Reasoning Slider · Beta:

  • Official: Fully restores DSH’s official model selector.
  • Native: Uses subtle intensity capsules and a compact pop-up slider.
  • Energy: Displays brief, independent WebGL rendering and glow effects during dragging and upon completed submission.

The energy effect uses the official unit renderer during intensity switching; it returns to a static state after Off or a middle level settles, while the highest level published by the model remains continuously active.

Installation and Updates

Install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-reasoning-slider

DSH must be restarted after installation. All DSH distributions that provide dsh use the same official command. Update or uninstall:

dsh plugin --profile web update dsh-reasoning-slider
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-reasoning-slider

Important Notes

  • Development status: Active development was discontinued on August 31, 2026, and the project has been placed in a read-only archive. Existing releases, interactive demos, and source code will be retained, but the project will no longer be adapted to future DSH versions.
  • Behavior boundaries: Intensity selections are always submitted through DSH’s official model selection interface; if a model does not publish at least two levels, no fabricated options are added.
  • Energy mode: Runs only while the compact overlay is open; it briefly appears during intensity switching, returns to a static state for Off or middle levels, and remains continuously active for the highest level.
  • Permissions and privacy: Does not read DeepSeek balances or quotas. Account balance belongs to a separate plugin that requires explicit network and credential permissions and independent failure handling, and should not be bundled with a generic model control.
