Introduction

The Web interface of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is currently based primarily on a text stream. If you need to add visual distinction to a conversation or personalized elements to the chat interface, you can use an avatar plugin. dsh-chat-avatar is one such tool: it can display avatars on both sides of the conversation stream.

Plugin Overview

dsh-chat-avatar is a plugin maintained by Rabbit-bot-No-002 and is categorized as “Fun Dress-Up”. It injects styles into the Web interface to implement two core features: displaying an avatar to the left of each AI response and displaying an avatar to the right of each user input. The avatar settings on the two sides are independent and can be controlled separately.

Core Features

  • AI avatar: Located on the left side of each final AI response, aligned with the first line of the message.
  • User avatar: Located on the right side of each user input, aligned with the first line of the message.
  • Custom options:
    • Display control: Supports enabling or disabling avatar display on both sides.
    • Image upload: Supports uploading PNG, JPG, WebP, and GIF images (animated GIFs are supported, file size ≤20MB).
    • Size adjustment: Supports adjusting avatar size, range 16-128px.
    • Shape selection: Supports circular or square avatar frame shapes; circular is the default.
  • Display logic: No empty avatar frame is displayed when no image is uploaded, and the plugin does not include a built-in default image.

Installation and Activation

The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-chat-avatar

After installation is complete, refresh the page for the changes to take effect. If you are installing from the GitHub source and pnpm blocks build scripts, add the package to the profile’s allowBuilds configuration and then run the installation command again.

Configuration and Usage

In the DeepSeek Harness Web interface, enter the “Settings” page and click the “Avatar” option in the left sidebar to make configurations. Here, you can separately set the image, size, shape, and visibility status for the AI avatar and user avatar.

Technical Details

  • License: MIT.
  • Dependencies: It does not depend on any @deepseek-ai/* packages. The client module only uses slots, and the host module only uses webServer.
  • Compatibility: The client logic and host logic are decoupled, with no version coupling issues.

Summary

dsh-chat-avatar provides basic visual enhancement capabilities for the DSH Web interface. If you want the chat interface to appear more intuitive, or if you need to add visual markers for specific conversations, you can try installing this plugin.
