Introduction¶
A repository may contain AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, nested instructions, user-global instructions, and Claude rules at the same time. DeepSeek Harness, Codex, and Claude Code do not discover these instruction sources consistently. This means the same workspace may present different instruction surfaces to different coding agents. Sightline turns these hidden differences into a concise comparative report.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-sightline is a DeepSeek Harness (DSH) workflow plugin. Maintained by Charlie-Wang-03, it is used to inspect which workspace instruction sources DeepSeek Harness actually loads, and which instruction sources Codex and Claude Code would load for the same repository and working directory.
Core Features¶
The plugin uses deterministic rules to parse and compare instruction views across different agents. Its core capabilities include:
* Discover relevant instruction sources.
* Resolve an effective instruction surface for each supported agent.
* Compare these surfaces using deterministic structural rules.
* Visualize agreement, divergence, and unknown states in the DSH Web ToolView.
Installation and Activation¶
Use the official install command to add the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-sightline@0.1.0
After installation, start the DSH Web profile:
dsh web
Usage¶
In a DSH session based on a Git repository, call the sightline tool directly. For example:
Use sightline and tell me where the DSH, Codex, and Claude instruction views diverge.
The plugin resolves the DSH, Codex, and Claude views for the same session root and repository root.
How It Works and Limitations¶
The plugin uses an adapter pattern to handle the discovery semantics of different agents, while the comparison layer remains pure and agent-agnostic. Note that:
- Local and read-only: Sightline is local-first and read-only. It does not modify instruction files, nor does it send instruction file contents to services owned by Sightline.
- Privacy boundary: The full canonical report is retained as DSH tool metadata for the Web ToolView and playback, including information such as the repository root. However, the projection exposed to the model is narrower and omits absolute workspace paths and full diagnostic details by default.
- Compatibility: The plugin has been verified to be compatible with DeepSeek Harness
0.1.1-rc.2, Node^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0, and pnpm11.7.0.
Summary¶
dsh-sightline provides a way to troubleshoot multi-agent instruction inconsistencies in the DeepSeek Harness ecosystem. It is released under the MIT license and is an independent community project.
