Introduction

In daily use of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), keeping the framework up to date and protecting configuration data are important parts of routine maintenance. Manual updates often come with the risks of difficult version switching and lost configuration. The dsh-check-update plugin addresses this pain point by integrating with the npm registry to provide version checking, changelog retrieval, and automatic backup for DSH itself.

Overview

The plugin is maintained by bao-hp and is categorized as an online tool. It provides a tab-based user interface that integrates status monitoring, log viewing, backup management, and settings configuration. With this plugin, developers can manage DSH’s own versioning and data protection from a single interface.

Installation

Install it using the official DSH plugin management command:

dsh plugin add ./dsh-check-update

Core Features

The plugin primarily provides the following capabilities:

  1. Version Management
Automatically checks the latest version in the npm registry.
Supports the latest and next dist-tags to distinguish between stable and pre-release versions.
Automatically retrieves the changelog and description for new versions.

  2. Backup Management
Automatically backs up configuration and data before updates.
    Supports manually creating backups.
Supports restoring data from the backup list.
The number of retained backups is configurable.

  3. Update Modes
Supports three modes: automatic download and temporary staging, automatic download with manual application, and manual download and application.

  4. User Interface
Provides four tabs: Status, Logs, Backup, and Settings.

Configuration and Usage

Configure the plugin parameters in cordis.patch.yml to enable the features:

- insert:
    - id: check-update
      name: dsh-check-update
      config:
        distTag: latest
        checkIntervalMinutes: 240
        autoBackup: true
        backupKeepCount: 5
        updateMode: auto-download

Steps:
1. In the “Settings” section of the interface, adjust the version channel (stable or pre-release) and update mode.
2. Click the “Check for Updates” button at the bottom right.
3. Switch to the “Logs” tab to view detailed update information.
4. Create or restore backups in the “Backup” tab.

Notes

  1. File Locking Issues: Updates are applied after the harness exits to avoid file locking issues on Windows.
  2. Safety Mechanism: The plugin uses a “download first, apply later” strategy to avoid making the system unavailable if an update fails.
  3. License: The plugin is released under the MIT License.
