Introduction¶
When developing agents or managing services using DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the flexibility of the plugin system is crucial. By default, enabling or disabling an installed plugin usually requires restarting the DSH process, which interrupts the current runtime state. To address this pain point, this article introduces dsh-plugin-toggle.
What Is This¶
dsh-plugin-toggle is a DSH plugin maintained by aorucshiea. It provides hot-plug toggle functionality for installed plugins, allowing you to enable or disable plugins in real time without restarting DSH. The plugin extends the functionality of the DeepSeek Harness Web UI by patching the official client/host files.
Core Features¶
- Plugin list and descriptions: Displays installed plugins and their descriptions in the plugin list of the DSH Web UI.
- Hot-plug toggle: Enables or disables plugins without restarting the service.
- Core plugin protection: Includes a built-in
CORE_DENYLISTto prevent core plugins from being disabled accidentally. - Automatic UI patching: Automatically applies patches at startup to fix display issues in the official plugin manifest UI.
- Automatic preset menu hiding: When
dsh-preset-switchis disabled, the preset dropdown menu in the session header is automatically hidden (polled every 5 seconds and triggered by window focus events, without manual refresh).
Installation and Enablement¶
Install this plugin using the DSH plugin manager:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:aorucshiea/dsh-plugin-toggle
After installation, the plugin starts with the DSH service and automatically applies the relevant patches.
Typical Usage¶
- Open the DSH Web UI.
- Go to Settings -> Plugins.
- Find the target plugin in the plugin list and click the Disable / Enable button.
- Take note of the core plugins; they are marked as Protected and cannot be disabled.
Notes¶
- File patching mechanism: At startup, the plugin patches the official client or host files. This process is idempotent; if the target files are corrupted, it restores safe behavior.
- Runtime permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process.
- Security and compliance: The repository does not store any API keys or credentials. Before installing, it is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT).
Summary¶
With dsh-plugin-toggle, developers can control the DSH plugin environment more finely, improve debugging and deployment efficiency by using the hot-plug feature, and avoid frequent service restarts.
