Introduction

The core idea of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” A 3D printing workflow typically includes steps such as parametric modeling, calibration part generation, slicing strategy configuration, STL/G-code analysis, and fault diagnosis. The dsh-print3d plugin encapsulates these fixed workflows as “model tools” and “skills” for Agents to call directly.

Core Features

The plugin includes 6 model tools and 5 skills.

Model Tools

The tool logic runs in-process, with no system dependencies except for the slicing tool.

  1. Parametric STL Generation (print3d_gen_parametric_stl)
Generates watertight ASCII STLs and supports geometries such as box, cylinder, tube, sphere, cone, rounded_box, and gear.
    Input: Shape parameters.
Output: STL file (written to Desktop/3Doutput/stl).

  2. Calibration G-code Generation (print3d_gen_calibration_gcode)
Generates calibration G-code, including cube, temp-tower, first-layer, retraction, and bridge.
    Input: Parameters (size, type).
Output: G-code file (written to Desktop/3Doutput/gcode).

  3. STL Analysis (print3d_stl_analyze)
Calculates bounding box, volume, surface area, overhangs, non-manifold conditions, and watertightness.
    Input: STL text.
    Output: JSON analysis report.

  4. G-code Estimation (print3d_gcode_estimate)
Estimates print time, material usage, number of layers, and temperatures.
    Input: G-code text.
    Output: JSON estimation result.

  5. Toolpath Visualization (print3d_gcode_render)
Generates a top-down PNG image of the toolpath.
    Input: G-code text.
Output: Image block or PNG file.

  6. Slicing Bridge (print3d_slice)
The only tool that invokes an external process; it bridges to the local PrusaSlicer.
    Input: STL file path.
    Output: G-code file.

Skills

Skills are Markdown knowledge packages that are loaded on demand.

  1. Slicing Skill (print3d-slicing): parameter tables for 12 materials and rules for layer height, line width, temperature, retraction, and cooling.
  2. G-code Skill (print3d-gcode): Marlin/Klipper dialects, start/finish scripts, and estimation criteria.
  3. Modeling Skill (print3d-modeling): OpenSCAD syntax and parametric STL generation logic.
  4. Analysis Skill (print3d-analysis): interpretation of STL/G-code metrics and 3MF strategies.
  5. Diagnosis Skill (print3d-diagnosis): symptom→cause→fix mappings for 10 types of printing faults.

Installation

After completely quitting DSH, go to the DSH installation directory and run:

pnpm exec dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-print3d

Restart DSH after installation. Any preset Agent can directly call print3d_* tools and load print3d-* skills.

Typical Usage

A user requests generating a 20×20×10 box STL and generating calibration G-code with a time estimate.

  1. Call print3d_gen_parametric_stl(shape="box", x=20, y=20, z=10) to generate the STL file and write it to disk.
  2. Call print3d_gen_calibration_gcode(part="cube", size=20) to generate calibration G-code and write it to disk.
  3. Pass G-code text to print3d_gcode_estimate to get estimates for print time and material usage.

Precautions

Printing involves high temperatures and safety risks. Please strictly observe the following red lines:

  • Manual Verification: Before any parameters or G-code are delivered, prompt the user to manually verify them on the machine before printing. The plugin does not claim absolute safety.
  • Temperature Limits: Temperatures must not exceed the ranges recommended by the material supplier; materials such as ABS/ASA/nylon require reminders about ventilation and VOCs.
  • Explicit Parameters: If the printer model, material, or firmware (Marlin/Klipper) is unclear, the Agent should ask first and must not make assumptions without basis.

Summary

dsh-print3d encapsulates 3D printing engineering capabilities into deterministic tools and knowledge packages, suitable for various Agents in the DSH ecosystem. After installation, it can be used to call parametric generation, analysis, estimation, and slicing features, helping developers quickly build printing workflows.
