In DSH, directly prompting the model to enter the coding phase often lacks structured preliminary steps, which can lead to difficult debugging or overlooked requirements. dsh-superpowers ports the skill framework from obra/superpowers and introduces 14 predefined software development skills and a session startup bootstrap for DSH. This framework requires the model to brainstorm and plan before taking action, and to follow established processes during development, testing, debugging, and review.

This is a DSH plugin maintained by TangYT under the MIT license. It combines upstream skill files with DSH native tool mapping and injects system prompts at session startup, enabling the model to automatically invoke these skills.

Core Features

The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:

  • 14 ready-to-use skills: covering the full workflow from requirement analysis to code merging.
  • Session startup bootstrap: when a new session begins, skill usage rules are automatically injected into the system prompt to ensure the model operates according to conventions.
  • DSH native tool mapping: translates action language in skills into DSH native tools, such as subagent (dispatch subagents), todo_write (create todos), pwsh/bash (execute commands), and others.
  • Zero dependencies and hot updates: implemented using built-in Node.js modules; after modifying skill files, no restart is required, and changes take effect on the next load.
  • One-click upstream sync: provides a script to re-pull skill content from a pinned upstream version.

Skill List

The 14 built-in skills and their trigger scenarios are as follows:

Skill Name Trigger Scenario
brainstorming Before any creative work, to clarify intent, requirements, and design
writing-plans When requirements or specifications exist, to formulate an implementation plan before writing code
executing-plans Execute a documented implementation plan in an independent session, with review checkpoints
subagent-driven-development Dispatch a fresh implementation subagent for each task, and perform task-level and full-branch reviews
test-driven-development Before implementing features or fixing bugs, enforce the red-green-refactor cycle
systematic-debugging When encountering bugs or failed tests, perform root cause analysis before fixing
requesting-code-review Before task completion or merging, request review verification
receiving-code-review After receiving review feedback, how to verify and respond to it
using-git-worktrees Use git worktree when an isolated workspace is needed
dispatching-parallel-agents Dispatch two or more independent tasks with no shared state for parallel execution
verification-before-completion Before claiming a task is complete, run verification commands to obtain evidence
finishing-a-development-branch After implementation, how to integrate, merge, or clean up
writing-skills Write, modify, or verify new skills themselves (meta-skill)
using-superpowers How to discover and invoke skills at session start

Installation and Activation

Installing this plugin requires DSH’s plugin command.

dsh plugin --profile <profile> add git+https://gitee.com/tang-yongtao/dsh-superpowers.git

After installation, the dsh web process must be restarted for the plugin to take effect. After restarting, new session system prompts will include a bootstrap section with You have superpowers., and the skill directory should contain the 14 skills listed above.

Usage

Skills are mainly invoked through natural language, without needing to memorize specific commands.

  1. Natural language triggering: Express requirements directly in conversation. For example, saying “help me brainstorm a new feature” will cause the model to automatically invoke the brainstorming skill; saying “check the root cause of this bug” will invoke systematic-debugging.
  2. Slash command invocation: Type / in the input box, and the command menu will list all skills (e.g., /brainstorming). Select one or type the skill name and send it to explicitly inject that skill.
  3. List skills: Ask in conversation, “What skills do you have now?” and the model will list the currently available skills.
  4. Skip skills: Users have the highest priority. If you do not want to use a particular skill, simply say “skip brainstorming and modify it directly,” and the model will ignore that skill.

Configuration

In the plugin configuration, you can control whether bootstrap information is injected at session startup.

Edit the plugin’s line configuration in the profile (the config of the bundle patch):

config:
bootstrap: false # Disable session startup injection (keep the skill provider)

Enabling bootstrap adds approximately 5–6KB of prefix content to the system prompt for each request. If you are concerned about token overhead, you can disable this option, but the model will no longer automatically check for matching skills.

Notes

  • Restart required: After installation, be sure to restart dsh web; otherwise, skills will not be loaded.
  • Token overhead: Enabling bootstrap increases the system prompt length for each request turn.
  • Web UI dependency: The brainstorming skill includes an optional Web UI (located in skills/brainstorming/scripts/), but the bash script it depends on requires WSL or a remote Linux environment on Windows.
  • Copyright attribution: The skill content (body text) is copyrighted by obra (Jesse Vincent). This repository only provides the porting layer (bootstrap/provider/tool mapping) and sync scripts.

Summary

dsh-superpowers lowers the barrier to using complex software engineering practices in DSH by introducing standardized Agentic skills and workflows. For users who want to improve code quality and development process discipline, this skill framework provides complete closed-loop support from planning to merging.
