Introduction¶
The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” In agent development or long conversation management scenarios, developers often need to monitor or handle multiple sessions simultaneously. In this case, frequently switching tabs in the session list can interrupt the workflow. The dsh-split-view plugin draws on the interaction model of terminal split panes, directly transforming the DSH main window into a multi-pane container so that you can view the status of multiple sessions side by side in the same UI.
Core Features¶
The plugin turns the DSH main window into a draggable layout container. Each split pane runs a full DSH client instance and provides the following capabilities:
- Split panes and layout: Supports splitting right and splitting down. Split areas support resizing by dragging the divider, and arbitrary nested horizontal and vertical layouts.
- Pane operations: Double-click the pane title bar to maximize/restore; click a pane to focus it; close a pane via title bar buttons or shortcuts.
- Title bar features: Each pane has a title bar that displays the session title in real time and provides operation buttons such as split right, split down, maximize, refresh, and close.
- Session management: Click the title to rename the session directly; double-click to maximize; supports one-click copying of “session ID + session title”.
- Plugin integration: The plugin exposes split-pane capabilities as a Cordis service, allowing other plugins to call pane operations or session interactions via API.
Installation and Activation¶
Installing the plugin requires the DSH command-line tool.
- Install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-split-view
- Restart to apply:
After installation, restart the Web process to load the plugin:
dsh web
- Local development install:
If you need to develop or debug from source, use the-wparameter to specify the local path:
dsh plugin --profile web add -w /path/to/dsh-split-view
- Uninstall:
If you need to return to single-window mode or perform emergency recovery (if a plugin error occurs, the Boot process stops rather than silently showing a blank page):
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-split-view
Shortcuts and Settings¶
Inside any split pane, open Settings, then find the “Split Pane” option in the left navigation to configure it.
Default Shortcuts¶
The following combinations are provided by default and can be customized in Settings. Note: Custom shortcuts must include ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows/Linux).
⇧⌘D: Split right⇧⌘V: Split down⇧⌘X: Close the focused pane⇧⌘Enter: Maximize / restore the focused pane
Settings Items¶
- Shortcut customization: Click an action’s shortcut combination to enter recording mode, press the new combination to rebind it, and Esc to cancel. Combinations already used by the browser or system can also be bound; the system will show a notice.
- Active highlight color: Applies border outline and title bar tinting to the focused pane. Provides preset swatches, a custom color picker, and a “Follow theme” option. When Follow theme is enabled, changing the skin adapts automatically.
- Title bar: Provides a toggle to hide title bars for all panes. Note: The title bar integrates buttons for copying information, renaming, maximizing, and closing. After hiding it, these actions can only be triggered by shortcuts.
- Restore defaults: One click restores the above settings.
Notes¶
- Runtime behavior: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installing.
- Error handling: If the plugin code fails, the Boot process reports an error and stops; there will not be a silent blank page. In this case, uninstalling the plugin is the emergency way to restore normal operation.
- Shortcut restriction: Custom shortcut combinations must include ⌘ or Ctrl. This is a hard requirement.
Summary¶
By refactoring the DSH main window into a split-pane container, dsh-split-view solves the switching pain point when viewing multiple sessions in parallel. Whether side-by-side horizontal panes or nested vertical panes, it provides a terminal-like multitasking experience. The plugin is open source under the MIT license and provides a Cordis service interface for other plugins in the ecosystem to call.
