The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When using the WorkBuddy China Edition in daily workflows, the daily check-in is easy to forget. Relying on external scripts or scheduled tasks would increase system complexity. The dsh-buddy-checkin plugin solves this problem by integrating check-in logic into the DSH lifecycle and automatically completing the operation at DSH startup using local credentials.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is a workflow plugin maintained by corrinehu. It automatically scans WorkBuddy China Edition accounts that have been logged in on the local machine when DSH starts, completes the daily points collection for each account, and requires no additional configuration.
Core Features¶
- Ready to use: After installation, DSH automatically performs the check-in at startup. Accounts that have already checked in on the current day (including manual check-ins in the App) are skipped automatically, and repeated restarts do not cause duplicate requests.
- Automatic multi-account discovery: It reads the shared login directory of the WorkBuddy Desktop App, automatically discovers all China Edition accounts, de-duplicates them by account, and retrieves the latest credentials.
- Status display: It displays the WorkBuddy icon, account count, and status dot in the session title row (green: all checked in; yellow: partially failed; red: all failed).
- Details panel: Click the entry to view each account’s check-in result, check-in time, points received, and latest remaining points balance. The balance is re-queried each time the panel is opened, and scrolling is supported.
- One-click retry: If any accounts fail to check in on the current day, you can click the retry button in the details panel to retry only the failed accounts.
- Startup summary: A brief summary is shown when results are available for the first time on the current day (for example, “WorkBuddy has completed today’s check-in: 2 accounts”). Subsequent startups on the same day do not show it again.
- Theme support: Icon and panel colors follow DSH’s light and dark themes.
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installation, make sure that the WorkBuddy Desktop App (China Edition) is installed on your local machine and has been logged in at least once, and that your DSH version is 0.1.5-rc.1 or later.
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-buddy-checkin
After installation, start dsh web (or restart Desktop) to activate it.
Typical Usage¶
- Automatic check-in: After DSH starts, the plugin runs automatically and attempts to check in all discovered accounts.
- View status: Click the session title row to view the check-in status and points balance for the current accounts.
- Retry failures: If some accounts show as failed, click the retry button in the details panel to perform a makeup check-in.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Account restrictions: Only WorkBuddy China Edition accounts are supported; international edition accounts are not supported.
- Interface support: The TUI is not supported; this feature is only available in Web and Desktop.
- Execution timing: No timer/cron job is used. Check-in occurs only when DSH starts. If DSH is not started on the same day, the points cannot be obtained; missed days cannot be made up.
- Environment variable: On Windows or Linux, reading encrypted credentials requires the
WORKBUDDY_ELECTRON_BINenvironment variable to point to the path of WorkBuddy’s Electron binary. - Dependencies and compatibility: It depends on WorkBuddy client interfaces. Older backup files may not be decryptable; when old and new files for the same account coexist, the latest usable one is used.
- Disclaimer: This project is for personal learning and research only; do not use it for commercial purposes.
With this plugin, routine WorkBuddy maintenance can be automated, reducing manual operations. The source code and documentation are available on GitHub.
