The philosophy of DeepSeek Harness is “everything is a plugin.” When a large amount of conversational text accumulates, the default styles present a relatively flat information layout, making it difficult to quickly locate key points. dsh-markdown-xyy is a plugin that runs in the DSH environment. It restyles Markdown in conversations using pure CSS. While preserving the product’s baseline theme, it provides reading-assistance themes with emphasized key points and clear typography, and includes a rollback-capable version ledger.
Core Features¶
This plugin provides the following capabilities:
- 4 built-in themes: Provides light and dark variants.
- Theme selection persistence: The selected theme is saved automatically (using localStorage), remains unchanged after refreshing the page or restarting, and can be synchronized across multiple tabs in real time.
- User themes are plug-and-play: You can use custom themes without upgrading the plugin by placing CSS files in the specified directory to take effect.
- Real-time theme editor: Create or edit user themes directly in the settings page.
- Element-level incremental typography overrides: Supports overriding the typography of specific Markdown elements.
- Immutable version ledger: Records the plugin’s iteration history and supports rollback.
- Persistent install and immediate use: After installing via the official command, it is not lost after process restart.
Installation and Activation¶
Before using it, ensure that DeepSeek Harness (dsh web) is installed and running in the environment. This plugin has no runtime dependencies and does not require installing additional npm packages.
The installation command is:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-markdown-xyy
After installation, go to Settings → Theme Settings to enable it.
Typical Usage¶
Switching Built-in Themes¶
Go to the Settings → Theme Settings interface and switch between the built-in light or dark theme in the list. The selection is persisted automatically.
Customizing User Themes¶
There are two ways to modify or create a theme:
-
Method 1: Let AI modify it (recommended)
- In Settings → Theme Settings, click 🆕 New User Theme.
- Copy the entire CSS code from the editor.
- Paste the code to any AI (such as DeepSeek) and tell it your modification requirements.
- Paste the complete CSS code returned by the AI back into the editor, then click Save.
-
Method 2: Edit manually or place a file
- A theme is essentially a CSS file.
- Place a new CSS file (for example,
my-theme.css) in the~/.dsh/web-themes-xyy/directory. - Go to the settings page and click 🔄 Refresh User Themes, then select it from the theme list.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use case: Users who need to read a large amount of conversational content and want to optimize typographic hierarchy and improve the reading experience.
- Note: Themes are essentially CSS files, and theme switching requires no code changes. The plugin follows the MIT license.
Summary¶
dsh-markdown-xyy improves the reading experience of conversational content through built-in themes and user customization capabilities without breaking the product’s baseline theme, and provides a version ledger function to facilitate managing plugin iterations.
