Foreword

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture. Mimi, the Whale Girl, is a client plugin that provides a desktop pet experience and integrates Windows Computer Use capabilities. It starts with DSH, can display thinking, tool calls, questions, and replies in work sessions, and also acts as an independent desktop pet to support interaction and reminders.

Core Features

Focus and Reminders

Mimi integrates focus, Do Not Disturb, and reminder features into a panel at the top of the DSH session instead of creating a separate window.

  • Focus Mode: The default duration is 25 minutes, configurable from 1 to 240 minutes. It supports pause, resume, cancellation, and a 5-minute break.
  • Do Not Disturb Mode: Reduces the desktop pet’s autonomous movement and ordinary tool hints, while preserving normal replies and the pending entry.
  • One-sentence commands: Recognizes explicit companion commands entered in the input box, such as “Focus with me for 25 minutes” or “Remind me to drink water in 20 minutes”.
  • Reminder management: Supports adding, editing, completing, canceling, and deferring by 10 minutes. After the due time, the reminder remains in the pending list.
  • Notification records: Focus and reminder records are retained in recent notifications and remain visible after the bubble fades.

Desktop Pet Interaction and Animation

Mimi has full desktop pet expressive capabilities:

  • Animation system: Built-in Live Rig v5, with 23 official actions, gaze following, breathing, blinking, and smiling.
  • Touch interaction: Supports area-based touch, high-fiving after a head pat, feeding, drag-and-drop placement, long-idle sitting and sleeping, and welcome back.
  • Interaction entry: Use the desktop pet’s right-click menu or request the panel from a companion bubble.

Computer Use

Mimi includes the built-in Computer Use capability and performs UI operations through a PowerShell UIA kernel:

  • Operation scope: Window observation, clicking, typing, pressing keys, scrolling, and dragging.
  • Session association: For DSH 0.1.7 or later with the official computer-use contract package installed, Mimi claims the slot; if the slot is occupied, it automatically yields.

Session Management

  • Work mode: Text is sent to the current DSH work session, and the desktop pet displays the thinking and reply process.
  • Companion mode: A separate desktop pet session that recognizes companion commands.

Installation and Configuration

Runtime Dependencies

  • Node.js: ≥ 18
  • DSH: ≥ 0.1.7-rc.1 < 0.3.0
  • Python: 3.11 + PySide6 (bundled with the package; launched via pythonw.exe)

Configuration Namespace

Configuration is stored under the mimi-pet namespace in the DSH profile. The DSH 0.1.7 settings UI only automatically generates forms for entries with a live field. Mimi’s configuration must be modified through the cordis.patch.yml document editor or by reinstalling the plugin; restart the plugin afterward to take effect.

Configuration Example

# cordis.patch.yml 示例
mimi-pet:
  enabled: true
  companionEnabled: true
  focusMinutes: 25
  petDir: ""
  python: ""
  scale: 100
  computerUseEnabled: true
  computerUseAskBeforeActions: false
  computerUseScreenshot: true
  computerUseGrid: true

Data Storage

  • Settings and state: %APPDATA%\MimiDesktopPet\*
  • Companion data: %APPDATA%\MimiDesktopPet\companion.json (independent of affinity)

Permissions and Security

File Permissions

  • Read/write: %APPDATA%\MimiDesktopPet\* (affinity, companion, and state); the plugin’s own pet/ directory.
  • Temporary files: Logs and screenshots under %TEMP%.
  • Boundary: It does not access other user directories.

Network and Credentials

  • Network: It connects only to DSH’s local loopback (HTTP RPC and remote.mux WebSocket on 127.0.0.1); it queries registry.npmjs.org at startup to check for updates (failures are silent).
  • Credentials: It uses only the DSH-issued session token (authenticatedUrl); it does not read, store, or forward any third-party secrets.

Typical Usage

  1. Startup and following: When DSH starts, Mimi displays the thinking process and replies according to the work-session status.
  2. Setting focus: In the top panel, select Mimi, set the focus duration (for example, 25 minutes), and enable Do Not Disturb for this session.
  3. Issuing commands: In the desktop pet mode input box, enter “Remind me to clock out at 18:00 tomorrow”. The system automatically parses and schedules it.
  4. Interaction: Right-click the desktop pet or use a companion bubble to summon the Mimi panel for operations.
