Preface

When developing or debugging with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the number of sessions often increases rapidly, making the sidebar cluttered and hard to maintain. Manually managing log files is not only inefficient but also easy to mishandle, with the risk of accidentally deleting important data. The section below introduces dsh-delete-chat, which provides a centralized session management solution for DSH.

What It Is

dsh-delete-chat is a DSH plugin maintained by youqu68. It provides a unified session list in the settings page, supporting archiving (hiding) and permanent deletion operations, and addresses the difficulty of manually cleaning up files.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  1. List all sessions: Displays the title, working directory, and creation time, and groups sessions by active and archived status.
  2. Archive sessions: Hides sessions from the sidebar while retaining log files on disk, and can be undone.
  3. Un-archive: Restores session visibility.
  4. Permanently delete: Deletes persisted log files and separates them from the workspace and archive.

Installation and Enabling

Use the official command to install the plugin. After installation, restart the Web service to activate it.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-delete-chat

After installation is complete, restart dsh web to use it.

Typical Usage

  1. Open the settings page and go to “Session Management”.
  2. Click the corresponding buttons in the list to archive, un-archive, or delete a session.

Use Cases and Notes

This plugin is suitable for developers who need to manage sessions in bulk or clean up expired logs. Please note the following before use:

  • Archiving is not deletion: Archiving only hides the session. Log files are still retained on disk and can be restored by un-archiving.
  • Active sessions cannot be deleted: Running sessions cannot be deleted, and the delete button remains disabled.
  • Two-step deletion confirmation: Deletion requires two clicks. The first click displays the path of the file to be deleted.
  • Only specific files are processed: The plugin only operates on the session’s own artifacts (file names ending with session.jsonl*).
  • Sandbox awareness: Session files are located in $DSH_HOME/sessions. If the sandbox blocks deletion, the plugin will report an error and allow manual handling.
  • Index delay: After deletion, full-text search indexes may retain stale entries until restart.
  • Permission risk: The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions. Please review the source code and license before installing.
