In DeepSeek Harness Web, citing specific text from a conversation usually requires manual copy and paste, which interrupts the workflow. dsh-conversation-quote solves this problem. It is a pure UI plugin that allows users to select text in the chat and quickly attach it as a quoted block to the next question.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a UI plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness Web. It is maintained by xjwwjx and released under the MIT license. The plugin extends the chat interface to implement the complete flow from text selection to quote merging, without involving model tools or slash commands.
Core Features¶
- Select text to generate a pill: In user, assistant, or tool messages, use the mouse to select any text. The system generates a small “Quote” pill above the selection.
- Generate quote tag: Clicking the pill generates a compact quote tag above the input box (for example
[Quote·User]) and attaches the first line of the quoted content. The tag has a fixed size and is left-aligned. - Manage and preview: Hovering over the tag expands it to view the full quoted content. Clicking the
×in the top-right corner of the tag removes that quote individually. Multiple quote tags can be added. - Submit and merge: When entering a question in the input box and sending it, all added quote tags are merged into the message body in order, as a quotable code block.
Usage Steps¶
Select a passage of text in the conversation and click the quote pill that appears. See the generated quote tag above the input box, enter a question, and send. Hover over the tag to view the full quoted content, and click × to remove a specific quote.
Technical Details and Limitations¶
- No configuration options: The plugin has no configuration options and works out of the box.
- Pure browser-side UI: It does not involve model tools or slash commands, nor does it modify model interaction flows or request headers. Quote attribution is based on DOM node type (
data-chat-flow-kind) rather than message ID. - Stateless: It does not touch history or request prefixes, and does not modify the KV Cache.
- Send failure handling: If sending is rejected, the merged quoted text remains in the draft as plain editable text.
- Input interaction: Line breaks with Shift+Enter and IME input method composition are not affected.
- Interaction limitations: Touch long-press selection is not currently supported; only mouse operations are supported.
