When using DeepSeek Harness for model inference and debugging, the interaction experience of the web interface directly affects efficiency. To address the cluttered display of tool calls in long conversations and the limitations of the native input box, this plugin provides a lightweight enhancement solution.

Dsh UI Enhance (dsh-ui-enhance) is a plugin maintained by xjackzenvey, designed to provide optional interaction and style enhancements for the DeepSeek Harness web interface. The current version is 0.4.0, developed based on the DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.6 client package.

Core Features

Voice Input

Adds a microphone button to the left of the “Send Message” button, using the browser’s Web Speech API to convert speech to text. Click the microphone to start or stop recognition. The recognized result is appended to the current input box content and does not automatically send a message. This feature requires browser microphone permission, and Chromium browsers that support SpeechRecognition are recommended.

Tool Call Collapsing

When there are many tool calls, this feature automatically merges consecutive tool calls of the same type into a single expandable summary card. For example, multiple Read calls are merged into one card. After expanding the summary card, the original tool rows, file links, and detail interactions are restored. Different tool calls, or same-type calls separated by thinking, text, or other content, are not merged. This feature is enabled by default and can be toggled instantly in settings.

Custom CSS

A multi-line CSS editor is provided in the plugin settings. The content is applied immediately to the entire Harness page and saved automatically. Clear the editor to remove the custom styles. Because it applies to the entire page, incorrect or overly broad selectors may affect the original Harness layout.

Installation and Enablement

Use the officially provided installation command to add the plugin to the Web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add "dsh-ui-enhance"

After installation, start the Harness Web profile:

dsh --profile web

Typical Usage

Voice Input

Click the microphone icon in the input box to start recognition. Recognized text is appended at the cursor position; after confirming the content is correct, click the send button.

Tool Call Collapsing

Go to the plugin settings page; the path is Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration -> Dsh UI Enhance -> Tool Call Collapsing. Click the toggle to switch the collapsing feature. When turned off, the page immediately reverts to the native tool call list.

Custom CSS

Write CSS code in the multi-line editor. After modifications, the page styles update immediately. To restore the default styles, simply clear the editor content and save.

Environment Requirements

Installing and running this plugin requires the following environment conditions:

  • Node.js: ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0
  • pnpm: 11.19.0
  • DeepSeek Harness: Current dependencies are based on the 0.1.0-rc.6 client package

Notes

  • The voice input feature depends on the browser’s SpeechRecognition interface. Browsers that do not support this interface have the microphone button disabled.
  • Custom CSS applies to the entire page. Be mindful of selector scope when writing it to avoid overriding the original Harness layout structure.
  • The plugin uninstall command is: dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-ui-enhance.

Conclusion

Dsh UI Enhance is a practical patch for the DeepSeek Harness web interface. By providing voice input, tool call collapsing, and CSS customization, it improves the local development and debugging experience. Refer to the project homepage for more details and source code.
