Introduction¶
When deploying or using DeepSeek Harness (DSH) in a Windows environment, startup failures are often caused by incorrect environment configuration, incompatible Node.js versions, or corrupted configuration files. Troubleshooting these issues often requires manually checking system paths, environment variables, and configuration files.
dsh-doctor-windows is a read-only diagnostic tool for Windows systems. It generates diagnostic reports by checking key areas such as command resolution, Node.js version, DSH_HOME path reachability, configuration manifests, and Cordis patches. The tool itself does not execute DSH shims, nor does it send any network requests or telemetry data.
Plugin Overview¶
- Nature: Unofficial
- Maintainer: xianfanwindy
- License: MIT
- Core Features: Read-only diagnostics, local execution, privacy protection
Core Capabilities¶
This tool primarily performs read-only checks on DSH and system configuration. It does not modify any files or perform any network interactions.
-
Basic Environment Checks
- Checks whether thedshcommand can be resolved.
- Checks whether the Node.js version meets the requirements (^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0).
- Checks whether theDSH_HOMEpath is reachable. -
Configuration and Dependency Checks
- Checks the configuration file manifest.
- Checks Cordis patches.
- Checks direct package links. -
Security and Privacy
- No Network Requests: It does not send data to any server.
- No Telemetry: It does not collect usage behavior data.
- No Shim Execution: It does not invoke discovered DSH shims for execution.
- No Sensitive File Reading: It does not read.credentials.yamlor.env.
- Sensitive Data Masking: It automatically masks sensitive information in reports, such as known homes,DSH_HOME, temporary paths, URL credentials, high-entropy values, and other sensitive data. -
Report Output
- Supports terminal, Markdown, and JSON formats.
Installation and Activation¶
Global installation:
npm install -g dsh-doctor-windows
Enable in a Cordis environment:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-doctor-windows
Usage¶
Basic CLI usage:
dsh-doctor
Diagnose with a specified profile:
dsh-doctor --profile web
Export a Markdown report:
dsh-doctor --profile web --format markdown --output .\dsh-doctor-report.md
Export a JSON report (without color):
dsh-doctor --profile web --format json --no-color
Reports and Privacy¶
- Exit Codes: 0 indicates no blockers, 1 indicates blockers exist, and 2 indicates an argument error or initialization failure.
- Report Nature: Diagnostic evidence, not a final solution.
- Privacy Protection: Reports are generated locally only and are not uploaded. All known sensitive paths and credential-like values are masked.
Applicability and Notes¶
- System Requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Shell: PowerShell 5.1 or PowerShell 7.
- Node.js:
^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0. -
Ensure the
dshcommand has been added to the system PATH. -
Limitations:
- Version 1 supports Windows only and does not support macOS or Linux.
- It does not support automatic repair, GUI interfaces, or automated plugin installation.
- Configuration file formats are DSH pre-release inputs and may change across versions.
Conclusion¶
dsh-doctor-windows provides Windows DSH users with a way to quickly identify environment configuration issues. Through read-only checks and local report generation, it helps developers troubleshoot startup obstacles without compromising privacy.
