Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture with highly open extension capabilities. During long-conversation development in the Web client, excessive conversation turns can make context navigation difficult and it hard to quickly locate specific historical interactions. The dsh-turn-nav plugin is designed to solve this problem. It provides an intuitive turn navigation method along the right edge of the conversation interface.

Plugin Overview

Plugin Name: dsh-turn-nav
Maintainer: xiaheng1
Core Functionality: Provides a conversation turn histogram navigation rail for DeepSeek Harness Web.
License: MIT

This plugin renders short bar charts along the right edge of the conversation to represent individual turns. Through interaction, it transforms the static bar chart into a dynamic navigation tool, helping developers quickly locate messages.

Core Features

  1. Multiple Visual Variant Support: Supports three visual styles: Mixed, DeepSeek, and Codex.
  2. Unfocused State: Turns not in the focused state are displayed as short bars along the right edge of the conversation.
  3. Interactive Feedback: When the mouse hovers over or keyboard focus is on a bar, the bar expands into a wave-like shape, with the focused bar being the longest, and displays a preview card containing the user message for that turn.
  4. Smooth Scrolling: Clicking a bar in the navigation rail causes the conversation view to scroll smoothly to the corresponding turn.

Installation and Activation

Run the following commands in the terminal to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/xiaheng1/dsh-turn-nav.git
dsh plugin --profile web install

After installation is complete, restart the dsh web process and perform a hard refresh in the browser (usually Ctrl+F5) to load the new plugin.

Usage

  1. Open a workspace and the corresponding conversation.
  2. Move the mouse pointer to the right edge of the conversation area to reveal the navigation rail.
  3. Move the mouse along the navigation rail. The preview card slides smoothly, following the currently highlighted bar and displaying the corresponding message content.
  4. Click any bar to scroll the conversation content smoothly to that turn.

Configuration and Notes

Configuration Options

By default, the plugin hides the navigation rail on narrow screens (max-width: 767px). To keep it visible on narrow screens, set the following in the configuration:

hideOnNarrow: false

Edit the $DSH_HOME/settings.yaml file to override the default configuration for the current deployment.

Notes

  1. This plugin is generated with AI assistance; testing in a secure environment is recommended before use in production.
  2. Default styles may vary across different visual variants (mixed, deepseek, codex).
  3. After installation, make sure to restart the service and refresh the browser.

Summary

dsh-turn-nav solves the pain point of locating content in long conversations in the DSH Web client through a visualized turn navigation rail. It provides clear visual feedback and a smooth interaction experience, making it suitable for developers who frequently navigate within conversation history.
