In the Web GUI development of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), converting vector SVG icons to a pixel-art style usually requires manual redrawing or complex CSS processing. The dsh-pixel-icons plugin resolves this pain point through runtime modification and can uniformly convert UI icons into a 1px pixel-block style.
Plugin Positioning¶
dsh-pixel-icons is a playful cosmetic plugin maintained by TableRogue. It does not rely on build steps; it converts icon styles by modifying DOM nodes at runtime while preserving React node identity and not breaking UI interaction logic.
Core Features¶
- Icon Rasterization: At runtime, it rebuilds all SVG icons with
fill="currentColor"into 1px pixel blocks. - High-Quality Processing: It uses 3× supersampling together with a block averaging algorithm to ensure thin lines remain continuous and stroke widths stay uniform.
- Smart Filtering: It automatically skips functional SVG elements (such as progress rings) without affecting UI logic.
- Non-Invasive Modification: It modifies the DOM in place and preserves React node identity, so interactions such as sidebar collapsing continue to work normally.
Installation and Activation¶
After installation, the plugin is automatically appended to the profile’s dsh.profile.bundles. It takes effect when you start dsh --profile web.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:TableRogue/dsh-pixel-icons
Configuration and Tuning¶
The plugin supports fine-tuning the pixelation effect through configuration options. After changing the configuration, refresh the page to rasterize the icons again.
- SCALE: Supersampling factor (default 3). Smaller values produce larger pixels; larger values produce finer lines.
- 0.35: Block average coverage threshold. Adjusting this value changes the decision logic for thin lines crossing blocks.
Usage Example¶
After installation, you can verify whether the plugin is active with the following command:
dsh --profile web --dump-config
You can confirm this by looking for the # == dsh-pixel-icons layer in the dumped configuration.
Temporary Usage¶
For temporary testing or one-off process usage, you can extract the content from the header comment of src/client.js, place it into code.client of cordis_define, and run cordis_run.
Closing¶
dsh-pixel-icons reflects DSH’s “everything is a plugin” philosophy. Before installing, it is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT).
