DeepSeek Harness (DSH) relies on plugins to extend its capabilities. When an agent needs code-level understanding, traditional text-based search (such as grep) lacks contextual structure. dsh-plugin-memtrace brings Memtrace’s local code intelligence graph into DSH sessions, enabling structural search, impact analysis, temporal memory, and 27 agent skills.
What Is This¶
dsh-plugin-memtrace is a DeepSeek Harness plugin maintained by the community (syncable-dev). It provides a local code intelligence graph, exposing structural search, impact analysis, temporal memory, and 27 agent skills through the Memtrace MCP. The plugin runs the graph locally and does not send code to the cloud.
Core Features¶
- MCP tools: Provides the full Memtrace graph and exposes it through the
mcp__memtrace__*namespace. - Skills: Registers 27 agent skills (such as
memtrace-first,memtrace-search, andmemtrace-impact) intoctx.skills. - Local-first: The graph resides on the local machine. No cloud indexing. No code uploads.
- Structural search and impact: Search based on symbols and code structure, not only text matching.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Ensure that the DeepSeek Harness CLI (
@deepseek-ai/dsh) is installed. - Add the plugin using the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:syncable-dev/dsh-plugin-memtrace
Note: The first startup may take about one minute to pull the Memtrace binary. If needed, you can pin a local installation by running npm install -g memtrace and setting the MEMTRACE_BIN environment variable.
Typical Usage¶
Prompt the agent to do the following:
Index this repo, then show me the blast radius of
apply.
Or:
Use Memtrace to index this directory, then give me an architecture briefing.
The agent will call Memtrace tools instead of relying on basic grep.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use cases: Agent developers who need to deeply understand codebase structure, analyze the impact of changes, or perform architectural exploration in new codebases.
- Note: The plugin starts a
memtrace mcpprocess in the session working directory. It reads the repository for indexing and writes a.memdbfile alongside the project. - Permissions: Before installation, ensure you review the source code and license (MIT).
Short Conclusion¶
This plugin brings local code graph capabilities to DSH, allowing agents to perform structured analysis without uploading code to the cloud. For more details and source code, see the project repository: GitHub.
