Introduction

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web interface supports long text input, but the default input behavior can easily lead to accidental submission or loss of drafts. dsh-input-enhancer is a client-side plugin designed for this scenario. It intercepts the keyboard submission path and adds locking, statistics, and draft-management capabilities without replacing the official input box.

Core Features

Lock Enter Submission

The plugin integrates a lock-shaped button in the bottom-right corner of the input box. Click the button or press the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+L (Windows/Linux) / Cmd+Alt+L (macOS) to lock the input box. When locked, the normal Enter key no longer triggers submission, preventing accidental presses.

Triple-Press Send

While locked, pressing Enter 3 times in a row (with intervals of ≤800ms between presses) unlocks the input box and sends the message immediately. The first two presses display an incrementing count (“1”, “2”) and a blinking animation, while the third press triggers an unlock explosion animation.

Character Count and Long-Text Reminder

As long as the input box is not empty, the real-time total character count is displayed behind the lock button. When the character count exceeds 800, the badge turns amber to indicate a warning.

Automatic Lock / Unlock

The plugin has an automatic locking mechanism enabled by default: it locks automatically when the character count rises from ≤80 to >80, and unlocks automatically when the input box is completely cleared (count returns to 0). The locked state and the draft staging area are stored only in browser memory and are cleared upon page refresh or restart.

Draft Swap

Click the swap button (⇄) to the left of the lock button in the bottom-right corner of the input box, or press Cmd+Opt+K (macOS) / Ctrl+Alt+K (Windows/Linux), to swap content between the input box and the staging area. The staging area supports only a single slot, making it suitable for temporarily storing work-in-progress drafts during multi-turn conversations.

Installation and Enabling

Use the following command to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:qiqiangvae/dsh-input-enhancer

After installation, restart dsh web and refresh the page for the changes to take effect.

Usage

  1. Find the lock-shaped button in the bottom-right corner of the input box. Click it or use the shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+L to toggle the locked state.
  2. Once locked, the content in the input box will not be submitted by a normal Enter press. To send it, press Enter 3 times in a row while locked.
  3. The character count is displayed in real time in the bottom-right corner of the input box. When the count exceeds 800 characters, the counter turns yellow as a warning.
  4. Click the swap button (⇄) or use the corresponding shortcut to stash the current input content, or retrieve the stashed content to continue editing.

Environment Requirements

  • DeepSeek Harness version: 0.1.2-alpha.1 (verified) or 0.1.0-rc.6.
  • Browser: Modern Chromium-based browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge).

Notes

  • The plugin does not replace the official input box; it only intercepts the keyboard submission path.
  • In the locked state, normal Enter and Ctrl+Enter/Cmd+Enter are blocked, while Shift+Enter line breaks, IME candidate confirmation, and attachment upload are preserved.
  • The locked state and the draft swap feature are valid only for the current session and are cleared upon page refresh.
