Plugin Positioning

dsh-input-history is a DSH plugin maintained by NightsVesa. Its core function is to intercept arrow key events in the Web canvas, allowing users to quickly review submitted historical content or restore an in-progress draft using the keyboard. This plugin follows the MIT License.

Core Features

  • Session isolation and capacity limit: History is bound to the current session and does not interfere with other sessions. The number of entries is limited to 256.
  • Shortcut key navigation:
    • ArrowUp: invoke and browse submitted user messages, guide messages, or slash commands.
    • ArrowDown: move forward in the history and restore the draft content that was being edited before navigation began.
  • Native behavior preserved: The plugin keeps native behavior unchanged for modified arrow key combinations, IME input method combinations, read-only input boxes, and inactive canvas states.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, ensure that DeepSeek Harness is installed and the Web profile is configured.

  1. Add the plugin using the plugin installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:NightsVesa/dsh-input-history
  1. Start the Web application:
    dsh web

To ensure that the installed version is reproducible, it is recommended to pin the plugin version using a commit hash:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:NightsVesa/dsh-input-history#<commit>

To remove it, run:

dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-input-history

Usage

In any loaded session window, operate directly with the keyboard:

  • ArrowUp: invoke and view previous input history.
  • ArrowDown: restore the previously in-progress draft.

Notes

  • Data source: The plugin reads existing user messages, guide messages, and slash commands from the currently loaded persistent session window.
  • Menu conflicts: When the command/reference menu is open, the arrow keys are taken over by the menu, and the plugin does not respond.
  • Environment requirements: The development and build environment requires Node.js ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0 and pnpm 11.7.0.
  • Compatibility: The plugin has been tested with DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.5.

Summary

This plugin optimizes the Web canvas input experience with simple keyboard operations. For developers who prefer keyboard navigation, it can significantly improve the efficiency of managing conversation history and drafts in DSH. For more details and source code, visit the GitHub repository.
