Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture to make it easy for developers to extend functionality. When debugging or analyzing a model, inspecting the reasoning process (Think lines) is a common need. Manually expanding each line is tedious and can easily lead to omissions. The dsh-think-expand plugin addresses this pain point with automated logic.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-think-expand is a DeepSeek Harness Web plugin maintained by developer BrianHIO-x. Its primary role is to automatically expand Think lines in a conversation. It supports unified control via a toggle in the session title bar and saves the state locally in the browser.
Core Features¶
- Precise matching: The plugin only operates on official Think lines that have the
data-variant="think"attribute. Tool cards, context injections, and compressed lines are not expanded. - Global toggle control: The session title bar provides a
Thinktoggle. When enabled, all Think lines are automatically expanded; when disabled, they are automatically collapsed. The state remains effective after switching conversations. - Manual and automatic interaction: You can manually collapse an individual Think line. At that time, that line remains collapsed. If you later operate the master toggle in the title bar again, all Think lines will be uniformly expanded or collapsed according to the master toggle state, and any previous manual records will be cleared.
- Local persistence: The toggle state is stored locally in the browser, so it is not lost after refreshing the page.
Installation and Enablement¶
Ensure the environment meets the dependency requirements (see the end of this document) and that you have available dsh and web configurations.
Install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:BrianHIO-x/dsh-think-expand
Uninstall the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-think-expand
After installation, restart dsh web. The terminal should display the message [dsh-think-expand] plugin loaded!.
Typical Usage¶
After starting dsh web, open the conversation interface in your browser. Click the Think toggle in the session title bar to expand or collapse all Think lines.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use cases: Developers who need to frequently inspect a model’s reasoning process or debug the display logic of Think lines.
- Environment dependencies: Requires
dshversion>=0.1.2-rc.1, Node.js version>=20, and@deepseek-ai/cordis^4.0.1. - Security recommendation: The plugin is open-source under the MIT license. Before installing, it is recommended to review the GitHub source code to confirm that its behavior meets expectations.
Conclusion¶
This tool simplifies the process of viewing Think lines through automated logic. For more details, see the plugin directory or the source repository.
