Introduction¶
The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” In Web UI scenarios, language support directly affects debugging efficiency. By default, only Chinese and English are supported, which creates readability challenges for users who need Traditional Chinese or are non-native speakers. The following introduces the dsh-multi-lang-ui plugin, which adds multilingual options to the Web UI through client-side injection.
Plugin Overview¶
The plugin is maintained by asd13006 and is released under the MIT license. It is a purely client-side plugin that does not modify upstream code. It implements multilingual support by overriding language translation logic and converting DOM nodes.
Core Features¶
The plugin adds six languages to the “Settings → General → Language” menu: Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish.
- Manually Translated Text
Each language includes an official dictionary with string-by-string translations (based on the English baseline), ensuring that critical UI information is displayed accurately. - Automatic Fallback Mechanism
For untranslated strings introduced by new features or third-party plugins, the plugin automatically falls back according to the language policy:- Traditional Chinese: converted at runtime using a built-in Simplified-to-Traditional character map (720+ characters).
- Other languages: fall back to English.
- DOM-Level Conversion
In Traditional Chinese mode, the plugin usesMutationObserverto monitor DOM changes and converts non-dictionary content (such as plugin marketplace descriptions) from Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese. Input fields, code blocks, and user content are always excluded, and only read-only display conversion is performed. - Persistence
The language preference is stored in the browser’slocalStorageand remains after the page is refreshed. - Zero Intrusion and Zero Supply Chain Risk
The plugin contains no network requests, telemetry, or data collection. It has no dependencies, and installation does not introduce new third-party code.
Installation and Configuration¶
Installing the plugin requires the dsh command-line tool.
- Install
Run the following command in the terminal to add the plugin to the web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/asd13006/dsh-multi-lang-ui
- Enable
After installation, thedsh webprocess must be restarted for the changes to take effect:
dsh web
- Select Language
In the Web UI opened in the browser, go to “Settings → General → Language” and select the target language from the drop-down list. - Uninstall
To remove the plugin, use theremovecommand to avoid leftover references caused by manually deleting files:
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-multi-lang-ui
Notes¶
- Character Mapping Limitations
Some Simplified-to-Traditional character mappings are one-to-many (for example, the character “复” can correspond to different Traditional characters depending on context). Currently, a single mapping (such as “復”) is used. Although the core UI dictionary covers most cases, imperfect conversions may occur in some newly added strings. - Storage Location
Language settings are stored only in the current browser’slocalStorageand are not synchronized across devices. - Security Features
The plugin does not access sensitive data (such as credentials or Tokens) or modify the file system. All conversions target only text nodes in the DOM.
Conclusion¶
dsh-multi-lang-ui addresses display issues in the DSH Web UI in multilingual environments. By combining “manual translation + automatic fallback,” it balances translation accuracy with maintenance cost. It is suitable for developers who need to debug in Traditional Chinese or non-English environments.
