The DSH ecosystem emphasizes pluggability, and Web Profile is a key development entry point. However, the default Web interface lacks the visual texture and interaction details of a desktop client. dsh-ui-enhancer is a desktop-experience enhancement plugin for Web Profile. It preserves the official UI session and slot contracts, and on top of that adds mature file management, personalized wallpapers, and desktop pet features.
This plugin is maintained by community developer AlexYin-Tongji and released under the MIT license. It is not affiliated with DeepSeek. Before installing, verify the code source and permission boundaries.
Core Features¶
Desktop-style left sidebar
It follows the official conversation sidebar and retains features such as new conversation, search, workspace grouping, conversation history, collapse, and settings, while adding visual treatment closer to a desktop client.
Enhanced right workspace
It integrates @linxin666/dsh-client-ui-aionui-panel, supporting file trees, Git changes, and previewing Markdown, code, Diff, CSV, PDF, images, HTML, and URLs in the browser.
Personalized wallpapers
Supports local images and URLs. Options can be adjusted for fill mode, position, blur, overlay, transparency, and adaptive text and border colors based on image brightness.
Desktop pet
Provides a standalone pet feature, supporting naming, dragging, hiding/summoning, scaling, viewing conversation status, interaction, and feeding. After uploading a PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, or AVIF avatar, the browser automatically extracts the main subject (removes the background) and stores it in transparent form in IndexedDB without uploading it to external services. The pet triggers bubble conversations based on the conversation state and displays an activity details panel below.
File references
Type @ in the input box to search for files in the current session workspace and insert structured file references.
UI fixes
Fixes the issue where the “maximize/restore” and “collapse” buttons overlap and cause accidental clicks in the file bar due to the runtime style bridge.
Installation and Configuration¶
Prerequisites
DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.6 and Node.js 22.19+ or 24+.
Install the plugin
Add the plugin using the official plugin management command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-ui-enhancer
Start the service
After installation, the running Web profile needs to be reloaded.
Configuration tweaks
In the plugin settings:
* The “Personalization” page is for adjusting the wallpaper.
* The “Pet” page is for setting up the desktop companion, uploading its avatar, and managing feeding.
Upgrade the plugin
After a new version is released, run the following command to update it:
dsh plugin --profile web update dsh-ui-enhancer
Security Boundaries¶
- File access control: The file API only accepts registered workspace root directories. Relative paths undergo realpath verification before reading, and directory traversal, escaped symbolic links, and
.gitpaths are rejected. - Request restrictions: The JSON API and raw file preview accept only loopback requests.
- Data storage: Local wallpapers and the avatar library are stored in the browser IndexedDB and are not uploaded.
Typical Usage¶
- Enter
@in the conversation input box. The system lists files in the current workspace, and you can select one to insert a reference. - Go to the “Pet” page in the plugin settings, upload an image as the pet avatar, and then interact with the pet on the desktop.
Conclusion¶
By combining community capabilities (such as dsh-web-ui) with an independent implementation (pet rendering), this plugin provides a Web Profile experience that is close to a desktop client. It is suitable for developers who want to enhance the visual and interaction details of the DeepSeek Harness Web experience.
