DeepSeek Harness adopts a plugin-based architecture and allows customizing the workspace appearance through extensions. tobewin/dsh-skin-studio is a standalone plugin. It registers skins through Harness’s exposed browser theme service, without modifying or embedding Harness source code. It aims to provide developers with a non-invasive visual customization solution.

Plugin Overview

  • Name: tobewin/dsh-skin-studio
  • Maintainer: ToBeWin
  • License: MIT
  • Core mechanism: Relies only on Harness’s public ThemeRuntime, language, and settings slot interfaces.

Core Features

This plugin mainly provides two types of skin management capabilities.

Built-in Skins

The plugin includes 10 preset skins that can be switched and used directly, including but not limited to:
* Aurora Flow: deep-sea dark base with teal aurora
* Neon Tokyo: cyber purple, magenta, and electric blue
* Sunset Coral: warm white, coral, and amber
* Arctic Prism: glacial white, indigo, and clear cyan
* Moon Ink Deep Blue: ink black, ultramarine, and cold blue glow
* Matcha Garden: soft grass green, cream white, and fresh mint
* Rose Crystal: misty pink, amethyst, and light rose
* Corona Flame: deep obsidian, amber, and lava orange glow
* Nordic Morning Mist: misty gray, warm white, and restrained blue tones
* Cobalt Tide: deep cobalt blue, cyan-blue, and sea surface reflection

Custom Canvas

In addition to preset skins, the plugin supports creating dedicated global skins:
1. Local Image Upload: Supports uploading local background images (up to 5 MB). Images are decoded and validated before being accepted, preventing unsupported files from being incorrectly displayed as solid colors.
2. Base and Colors: Choose a light or dark base, and independently adjust background, surface, accent, and text colors.
3. Framing and Atmosphere: The preview supports zooming, horizontal/vertical panning, or dragging the focal point. Atmosphere intensity adjustment is provided to balance image expressiveness and content readability.
4. Real-time Application: The main frame, sidebar, cards, and input area coordinate translucent theme layers, ensuring custom images are visible on actual chat pages, not only in the settings preview.

Installation and Enablement

Use the official installation command to add the plugin. After installation, restart DeepSeek Harness.

dsh plugin --profile web add @tobewin/dsh-skin-studio

After restarting, go to Settings → Skin Studio and select a skin to apply it immediately.

Usage

  1. Go to Settings → Skin Studio.
  2. Choose a skin from the built-in list, or proceed to “Custom Canvas” to edit one.
  3. The selected skin is stored in browser local storage. Click “Default Appearance” to restore Harness’s original light, dark, or system-following setting.

Privacy and Notes

  • Permission scope: Only uses the public ThemeRuntime, language, and settings slot interfaces; does not access the network, account, session content, or project files.
  • Data storage: The current skin ID is stored in browser local storage; custom images and colors are stored in browser IndexedDB and are not uploaded over the network.
  • Uninstall behavior: If the plugin is disabled or uninstalled, it automatically unregisters skin definitions and restores the default Harness theme.
  • Native UI: Action buttons directly reuse Harness’s public UI primitives and follow the current design system.
