Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (dsh) is a plugin-driven platform that provides core agent development and debugging capabilities, although its default Web interface visual style is relatively simple. When used for long periods or when a customized workspace is needed, the lack of native wallpaper theme support often requires relying on third-party browser extensions or manual code changes. The zoyluoblue/deepseek-harness-avatar plugin addresses this pain point. It allows users to directly upload images in the settings page as the Web UI background, and provides adjustable readability overlay and blur effects to ensure the clarity of interface elements.
What Is This¶
This is a plugin that provides wallpaper theming capabilities for DeepSeek Harness (dsh), maintained by user zoytown. It allows users to upload images in the Web interface and render them as the background for the entire UI, with adjustable readability overlay, background blur, and fill mode.
Core Features¶
-
Image Upload and Management
- Supports clicking or dragging to upload images on the settings page (supports png/jpg/webp/gif formats, default single file limit is 20MB).
- Provides a gallery that shows thumbnails of all uploaded images.
- Click a thumbnail in the gallery to apply the wallpaper; hover to delete. Select ‘None’ to restore the default solid-color background.
-
Readability Controls
- Provides a “Readability Overlay” slider: keeps UI elements semi-transparent to emphasize the background image.
- Provides a “Blur” slider: softens the background image and reduces visual distraction.
- Supports “Fill Mode” selection: Fill, Fit, and Tile.
-
Theme Adaptation and Storage
- The overlay color automatically adjusts based on dsh’s light or dark theme.
- Images are stored in a local directory using content addressing, and no data is uploaded.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install the plugin using the official command:
dsh plugin --profile web add @zoytown/dsh-avatar
After installation, open the Settings -> Background page in the dsh Web interface to start using it.
Typical Usage¶
- Apply Wallpaper: Upload an image on the settings page and click the thumbnail to apply it.
- Adjust Display Effects: Drag the “Readability Overlay” or “Blur” slider, or change the fill mode, to improve text readability.
- Restore Defaults: Select ‘None’ in the gallery to restore the solid-color background.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Environment Limitations: Only supported in the dsh Web interface. The Electron desktop app does not support this plugin.
- Remote Access Limitations: When accessed from a remote browser other than a Loopback (non-local loopback) address, the plugin is read-only and cannot apply wallpapers.
- Privacy and Security: All images and settings are stored locally, and no data is uploaded to external servers.
This plugin provides a lightweight visual customization solution for the dsh Web interface through local storage and simple UI controls. All files are stored in the ~/.dsh/avatar/ directory.
