In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) ecosystem, agents performing real-world web tasks (opening pages, clicking, typing, filling forms, extracting data) typically require external tools. zoahdev/dsh-browser-use provides a bridge to the Browser Use Cloud API, enabling DSH agents to perform these operations through the API.

Plugin Introduction

This is a community-maintained plugin. It does not reimplement Browser Use logic itself, but acts as a thin bridge. It registers a tool named browser_use_run for the model, forwards tasks to Browser Use cloud endpoints, and returns raw execution results.

Installation and Configuration

Installation

Add the plugin using the official installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-browser-use

Cloud Mode Configuration

Cloud mode requires a Browser Use API Key. It can be configured via a configuration item or environment variable:

  • API Key: use the apiKey configuration item or the BROWSER_USE_API_KEY environment variable.
  • Base URL: defaults to https://api.browser-use.com.
  • Timeout: request timeout, default is 300000 milliseconds.
  • Model: default model (optional).

Local Mode Configuration

Local mode (free, no API Key required) is provided by the mcp-client included with DeepSeek Harness and does not depend on this plugin. To use local mode, install Browser Use (Python environment) and configure it in cordis.yml:

- insert:
    - id: browser-use-local
      name: '@deepseek-ai/dsh-mcp-client'
      config:
        serverName: browser_use
        transport: stdio
        command: browser-use
        args: ['--cli-mcp']
        cwd: !!js process.cwd()

This registers the mcp__browser_use__browser_exec and mcp__browser_use__browser_screenshot tools.

Features and Usage

Cloud Mode Tool

The plugin registers a model-callable tool: browser_use_run.

Parameters:
* task (string): a description of the specific task to execute.
* model (string, optional): provider-prefixed model ID, for example openai/gpt-5.5.

Return value:
Returns the raw execution result in the format { result }.

Notes

  1. API Key dependency: Cloud mode requires a valid Browser Use API Key.
  2. Raw response: the plugin returns the raw response, without streaming or polling/waiting.
  3. Community project: this is a community plugin, not an official product of Browser Use or DeepSeek.
  4. Permissions: the plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license before use.
