Preface¶
In the development process of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the output produced by an Agent is usually in Markdown or JSON format. Displaying these raw texts directly often lacks readability and makes them difficult to share as deliverables. The dsh-artifacts plugin addresses this problem by providing a “Claude Artifacts”-style rendering solution that transforms raw Agent output into self-contained HTML documents.
What is dsh-artifacts¶
dsh-artifacts is a DSH plugin maintained by the community (author: zoahdev). It aims to convert Markdown and JSON data into well-designed HTML static pages with zero runtime dependencies. It does not rely on external frameworks, and the generated HTML files can be opened locally, emailed, or published on any static hosting service.
Core Capabilities¶
The plugin provides the following core features:
- Multi-format input: Supports rendering Markdown text and JSON data.
- Zero runtime dependencies: Only requires a Node.js environment. The generated HTML has inlined CSS and does not depend on external fonts or JS libraries.
- Template system: Provides four built-in templates for documents, cards, dashboards, and galleries.
- Vault export: Supports batch export of an entire Markdown library, such as Obsidian or VS Code notes.
- Dual-end tools: Provides a command-line tool (CLI) for developers and an
artifact_rendertool that Agents can invoke within Harness.
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installing, ensure your Node.js version is 18 or higher.
Enable the plugin in the DSH environment:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-artifacts
Typical Usage¶
The following examples demonstrate how to use the plugin.
1. Render Markdown to HTML¶
Render a local Markdown file to HTML and specify a theme:
dsh-artifacts notes.md --title "Release notes" --theme dark --out notes.html
2. Local Preview¶
Start a local service for real-time preview:
dsh-artifacts notes.md --serve 8080
3. Render a Dashboard¶
Render a dashboard page from JSON data:
dsh-artifacts --data metrics. --template dashboard --theme brand --out dashboard.html
4. Export an Entire Knowledge Base¶
Batch export an entire folder, such as an Obsidian Vault, into a static site:
dsh-artifacts vault ./my-notes --theme paper --out site
After execution, an index.html file and the corresponding note HTML files will be generated in the site directory.
Considerations and Limitations¶
Before integrating this plugin, note the following facts:
- Environment requirements: Node.js >= 18 is required.
- Dependency version: This plugin depends on
@deepseek-ai/dsh-toolsversion^0.1.0-rc.6or higher. If the Harness version is too old, the plugin may fail to load or run. - Markdown compatibility: The Markdown renderer covers a common subset (headings, lists, blockquotes, code blocks, tables, links, and images), but it is not a full CommonMark implementation.
- Dashboard mechanism: Dashboards are pure static HTML/CSS, contain no JavaScript runtime, and do not support real-time data binding (except in
--servemode). - Plugin nature: This is a community plugin, not an official DeepSeek product. Please review its source code and license yourself.
Summary¶
dsh-artifacts is suitable for scenarios where you need to generate shareable, offline-viewable static reports or documentation in Harness. Through a simple command-line interface, it addresses the problem of poor display of Agent output, and its zero-dependency design keeps maintenance costs low.
