DeepSeek Harness (DSH) follows the “everything is a plugin” philosophy. During development or use, it is often necessary to check the current version, verify updates, or review changelogs. Manual operations are often inefficient. For this need, there is a plugin specifically designed for the “About” section of the DSH Settings Center.
dsh-about is a client-side plugin maintained by YannZhou. Its core purpose is to provide version information viewing, update checking, one-click updates, and changelog browsing directly within the DSH Settings page.
Core Features¶
View Version Information¶
The plugin lists the current DSH version, Web frontend version, Node version, and runtime platform information.
Check for Updates¶
It automatically compares the official latest and pre-release versions, and provides tiered prompts based on the results without making blind recommendations.
One-Click Update¶
After selecting an update source, it installs directly and automatically restarts DSH Web after installation is complete. It supports Windows / macOS / Linux and does not run as a resident process.
Switch Update Source¶
It supports the official source, domestic mirrors, and following local configuration. It provides a dropdown switcher and supports clicking to measure actual latency.
View Version History¶
It displays the latest 10 official changelog entries (shown in Chinese), collapsed by default, and automatically fetches and caches them locally each day.
Publication Sync Detection¶
If the code has been published but npm has not caught up yet, it explicitly notifies the user. The notification automatically disappears after the npm package is available.
Installation and Enabling¶
Use the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add @yannzhou/dsh-about
After installation is complete, refresh DSH Web (default http://127.0.0.1:3080), then go to Settings → About to see the plugin interface.
Uninstall¶
To uninstall, run:
dsh plugin --profile web remove @yannzhou/dsh-about
Runtime data from the plugin is automatically cleaned up during uninstallation, leaving no residual data.
Notes¶
npm 12 users: npm 12 blocks dependency installation scripts by default. DSH includes built-in native modules (such as fs-ext, koffi, node-pty, etc.). If these are blocked, compiled artifacts may be missing, causing DSH to fail to start with a module-not-found error.
When installing or upgrading DSH, it is recommended to use the --dangerously-allow-all-scripts flag. The one-click update feature of this plugin already includes the same handling logic and can be used directly.
When the plugin starts, it scans DSH’s dependency tree and appends native modules to ~/.npmrc as a whitelist (the original configuration is automatically backed up before modification). It only appends entries and does not override other settings.
Summary¶
dsh-about addresses the need to manage versions and update sources directly from the Settings page, reducing the frequency of manually running npm commands in the terminal. All operations are completed within the DSH Web interface.
