Introduction¶

In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) workflow, side chat is often used for handling context or assisting thinking. Passing conclusions or information from side chat back to the main session usually requires manual copy and paste, creating an operational gap. dsh-side-notify is a companion plugin for dsh-sidechat. Through a floating component and global commands, it pushes messages directly to the main session, where the main Agent processes them as the next user message.

Plugin Positioning¶

This is a DSH plugin maintained by user xiaozhiaixue. Its core value is eliminating the intermediate steps of “side chat -> copy -> paste into main session” and enabling direct message flow through the agent.followup interface.

Core Capabilities¶

The plugin provides the following specific functions:

1. Floating button: When side chat is active, a “Notify main agent” capsule button appears in the bottom-right corner of the main interface, to the left of the sidebar.
2. Direct push: Enter content in the capsule and send it, and the message is sent through agent.followup as the next regular user message in the main session.
3. Global slash commands: In UIs that support executing host commands, the two global commands /notify <text> and /to-main <text> are registered.
4. Status hints: The capsule dot turns orange while the main Agent is busy; after pushing, it shows a waiting status.
5. Language following: The UI language follows DSH’s language settings (supports zh/en).

Installation and Enablement¶

Installing the plugin requires the official installation command. After installation, the dsh web service must be restarted and the browser hard-refreshed.

After running the installation command, perform the following steps to make it take effect:
1. Stop and restart the dsh web service.
2. Hard-refresh the page in the browser (Mac: Cmd+Shift+R; Windows/Linux: Ctrl+Shift+R).

The plugin ships with prebuilt JavaScript, so no additional build approval step is required when installing from GitHub.

Typical Usage¶

There are two common ways to use the plugin:

1. Using the floating button:

   • Open or enter side chat in the main session.
   • Click the floating capsule in the bottom-right corner.
   • Enter and send a message; the main session will receive it directly.

2. Using slash commands:

   • In any UI that supports executing host commands, directly enter /notify <text> or /to-main <text>.

Notes¶

1. Environment requirement: The plugin depends on a Node.js environment and requires Node >= 20.
2. Permissions and trust: The plugin’s “trust fence” is a pure JavaScript port of heartmove/dsh-side-chat (MIT licensed).
3. Push mechanism: The push operation starts a turn for the main Agent (queued for processing), which differs from the built-in bring-back behavior in dsh-sidechat.
4. Source trust: Even though installing via GitHub does not require building, verify the source code and license before installation.
