Introduction¶
The core philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “Everything is a plugin.” If you want to add visual elements to the chat interface, a dynamic wallpaper is a straightforward choice. This plugin is maintained by community developers and integrates Canvas animations and video backgrounds to provide users with a personalized interface appearance.
Plugin Purpose¶
This plugin is maintained by Willmylife and aims to provide dynamic background support for the DSH Web client. It combines Canvas animation rendering with video background functionality, allows users to control parameters through a settings panel, and uses localStorage to save configurations so they are automatically restored after a refresh.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides two background source types and multiple adjustment options:
- Built-in Canvas wallpapers: Includes eight effects, all rendered with Canvas and without external resource dependencies. The effects include particle connections, meteor showers, 3D starry flight, layered waves, rainy nights, rising bubbles in the deep sea, Matrix-style character rain, and flowing aurora curtains.
- Video background support:
- Supports pasting directly playable
http(s)video URLs. - Supports importing local video files (
MP4/WebM/OGV/MOV/M4V). - Provides three royalty-free preset videos (coastal waves, live performance, digital Earth), verified to be 1080p and under 21 MB in size.
- Supports pasting directly playable
- Real-time adjustment: Provides four sliders for speed, density, overlay opacity, and blur, with changes taking effect immediately.
- Video quality: Provides three options: Smooth (half resolution at 20 fps), Balanced (75% resolution at 24 fps), and High Quality (original passthrough). The first two are achieved through downsampling and have almost zero additional overhead.
- Persistence and energy efficiency: All configurations are written to
localStorageand automatically restored after a refresh or restart. The animation or video pauses automatically when the page is hidden to save resources.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install it from the official catalog:
dsh plugin --profile web add -w dsh-dynamic-wallpaper
dsh web
After installation, go to the “General” section on the Settings page to find the “Dynamic Wallpaper” panel.
Typical Usage¶
In the “Dynamic Wallpaper” panel, you can:
* Click the “One-Click Trial” button to quickly load the three royalty-free preset videos.
* Paste a remote video link or click upload to import a local video file.
* Drag the sliders to adjust speed, density, overlay opacity, and blur level.
Notes¶
- Local video storage: Locally imported videos are stored in the browser’s
IndexedDBand are automatically restored after a refresh or restart. In restricted-storage environments such as private browsing mode, they may need to be imported again. - Remote video loading: If a remote video fails to load, possible causes include hotlink protection, CORS restrictions, unsupported formats, decoding failures, timeouts, or login verification requirements.
- License: This plugin is open-sourced under the MIT License.
Summary¶
By combining Canvas rendering and video integration, this plugin enriches the visual experience of DSH. All settings are persisted, making it suitable for users who want a personalized interface appearance.
