In using DeepSeek Harness (DSH), conversation context management is a common pain point. When a conversation goes off track or a large amount of history needs to be cleaned up, manually rolling back or cleaning the sidebar can be very time-consuming. The dsh-session-manager plugin provides two core capabilities: conversation rewind and session archiving, helping developers quickly locate issues and keep the workspace tidy.
The plugin is maintained by TheHeartFickle and is positioned as a session management enhancement tool for DSH. It does not change the underlying model or workspace structure.
Core Features¶
Conversation Rewind
A “Rewind” button appears in the session header, with support for the Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z keyboard shortcut. The list is based on a full scan of the session log, so early turns can be selected even if they have not been scrolled into view. The system filters out steering interjections and inputs before compaction points. The rewind operation rebuilds a branch based on the official sessions.fork API, placing the original message back into the input box for re-editing. If there is a turn before the rewind position that did not end normally, the plugin shows a warning dialog and undoes it as well.
Session Archiving
An entry point is provided at the bottom of the sidebar. Archived sessions can be restored. It supports permanently deleting a single session, deleting all archived sessions, or deleting all ungrouped archived sessions.
Installation and Activation¶
Run the following command in the terminal:
dsh plugin --profile web add @the-heart-fickle/dsh-session-manager@latest
After installation, restart DSH and refresh the browser.
Typical Usage¶
- In a session, press
Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Zor click the button to select a historical message to rewind to. - Click the “Archive Session” entry at the bottom of the sidebar to manage sessions that are no longer needed.
Environment and Limitations¶
The plugin requires DSH ≥ 0.1.2-rc.1 (client side) and Node.js ≥ 20. When using the standard channel (Community v0.15), the archive deletion semantics are unavailable and will degrade and fail. The old configuration options rewindFileMode / rewindIgnoreFile have been removed and are no longer effective.
