Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) follows an “everything is a plugin” philosophy. In a Web GUI environment, quickly locating files and visually distinguishing file types is a common everyday development need. Existing File Explorer functionality has limitations in search flexibility and visual distinctiveness. This plugin improves file management efficiency directly within the existing interface by adding search functionality and file type badges to the built-in Explorer tab in dsh-better-sidebar.
Plugin Introduction¶
The plugin is maintained by user mastereal under the MIT license. It is a client-side plugin that mainly addresses two issues: first, fuzzy searching within the File Explorer without having to navigate away; and second, displaying file types with colored badges in the File Explorer tree and editor tabs.
Core Features¶
-
Inline Filter Box
The filter box is located directly below the “Working Folder Name” in the built-in Explorer tab. Enter a keyword to instantly filter the file list.
-
Codex-Style Subsequence Matching
Search uses a subsequence matching algorithm (characters match in order). For example, entering
bxmdcan match博客.md. The algorithm weights consecutive hits and separator boundaries, and file name matches take priority over path matches. -
File Type Badges
The plugin adds colored badges next to file icons in the File Explorer tree and editor tabs. Supported types include TXT, DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF, IMG, ZIP, PY, JS, CFG, SH, C, WEB, etc. Markdown files (
md) retain the built-in#icon by design. -
Locatable Search Results
In the search results list, hovering over the folder icon at the end of a row allows the File Explorer window to be located within that folder.
-
Self-Healing Mechanism
The plugin includes a heartbeat fallback observer. If the observer fails, it will automatically attempt to recover to prevent badge display abnormalities.
Installation and Enablement¶
Installation requires a DeepSeek Harness Web GUI environment and depends on dsh-better-sidebar version 0.14 (v1.0.2+ has been adapted to the 0.14 editorTreeSearch mount point).
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/mastereal/dsh-sidebar-enhancement-search/archive/refs/tags/v1.0.6.tar.gz
After installation, please follow these steps to ensure the plugin becomes effective:
1. Restart the dsh web service.
2. Perform a hard refresh in the browser (Ctrl + Shift + R).
3. Close all old DSH windows or tabs to avoid duplicate interfaces caused by residual code in old instances.
Usage¶
- Open the File Explorer tab in the sidebar.
- Enter a keyword (such as
bxmd) in the filter box below the “Working Folder Name”. - Click a search result to open it in the sidebar editor; hover the mouse over the folder icon at the end of the row to locate it in the system folder.
- Observe the File Explorer tree and editor tabs; colored badges corresponding to the file type will appear next to file icons.
Risks and Precautions¶
This plugin is a vibecoding work (written collaboratively with AI), used exclusively by the author, and has not undergone extensive testing.
- Code dependency risk: The plugin directly manipulates the DOM of
better-sidebar(CSS class name suffixes, MutationObserver, injected stylesheets). If the host software is upgraded, the plugin may become ineffective. - Display abnormalities: Installation carries risks, including possible missing badges or layout abnormalities.
- Disclaimer: The author is not liable for data loss, functional abnormalities, or consequences of use, and does not guarantee fix timeframes. Issues are welcome, but replies are not guaranteed.
Conclusion¶
Through lightweight DOM manipulation and a subsequence matching algorithm, this plugin enhances the usability of the DSH built-in File Explorer without adding additional tabs. For developers who frequently need to manage files in a Web environment, this is a practical enhancement tool.
