Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture designed to extend model access capabilities through plugins. For scenarios that need to integrate Volcengine Ark Agent Plan and Coding Plan, developers must handle specific route registration, OpenAI compatibility adaptation, and credential management. Existing integration methods often require manually modifying configuration files and can easily conflict with DSH’s built-in mechanisms. This plugin provides an out-of-the-box integration solution by registering independent routes and provider configurations, seamlessly connecting Volcengine Ark’s plan capabilities to DSH.

What Is This

This is a DeepSeek Harness plugin package maintained by community developer lionXiao. Its core purpose is to provide Volcengine Ark Agent Plan and Coding Plan provider support for DSH. Through this plugin, DSH can recognize and invoke Volcengine Ark plan interfaces while handling the necessary metadata publishing and API compatibility conversion.

Core Features

This plugin implements the following features in DSH:

  • Independent Route Registration: Registers separate volcengine-plan/* and volcengine-coding/* routes to avoid conflicts with existing plugins.
  • Metadata Publishing: Publishes per-model context, output, modality, and thinking-level metadata so that DSH can correctly recognize model capabilities.
  • Compatibility Adaptation: Applies the OpenAI compatibility switches required by the Coding Plan gateway to ensure request formats meet interface requirements.
  • Credential Parsing: Resolves ARK_API_KEY through the DSH credential service while retaining fallback support for legacy environment variables.
  • Configuration Management: Provides a visual credential form under Settings → Plugins → Plugin configuration. Supports validation and real-time reloading of configurations for routes, endpoints, headers, timeouts, retries, and default reasoning.
  • Compatibility Fix: Avoids the third-party model editor registration issue that caused the add-provider dialog in DSH rc.6 to become unavailable.

Installation and Enablement

Installing the plugin requires using DSH’s plugin management commands.

  1. Run the following command in the terminal to install the specified version:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:lionXiao/dsh-llm-volcengine-plans#v0.3.1
  1. After installation, restart DeepSeek Harness.
  2. In the model selector, choose volcengine-coding/deepseek-v4-flash or another model starting with volcengine-plan/* / volcengine-coding/*.

Configuration

Plugin configuration depends on the DSH credential service. The default credential reference name is ARK_API_KEY.

  1. After restarting DSH, go to Settings → Plugins → Plugin configuration.
  2. Find the Volcengine Plans configuration entry.
  3. In that form, save, replace, or remove the API key. The browser interface only displays the current configuration status; the actual key is stored by DSH in the $DSH_HOME/.credentials.yaml file and is never returned through the form.
  4. It can also be configured through environment variables. DSH reads ARK_API_KEY from $DSH_HOME/.env or the startup environment.

Notes

  • Avoid Conflicts: Do not install the old dsh-llm-volcengine package at the same time. Both packages use the same routes and will cause conflicts.
  • Security Practices: Do not commit real API keys to code repositories. The plugin supports reading keys from local environment variables.
  • Runtime Privileges: The plugin runs with the privileges of the current DSH process. Review the source code and license before use.

Summary

This plugin resolves configuration and compatibility issues when integrating Volcengine Ark plans into DeepSeek Harness. Through standardized route registration and credential management, developers can focus on business logic without manually maintaining complex API invocation details.
