Introduction¶
The Web mode of DeepSeek Harness is primarily used for visually debugging agents. In practice, developers can easily miss state changes (such as session completion, tool approval requests, and AI questions), and the interface lacks customization options, with a fairly primitive way to view file changes. dsh-web-extras is a browser-side plugin that addresses these Web interface pain points by adding instant notifications, appearance customization, and a file-change view aggregated by turn.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides three main functional modules:
- Completion/Approval/Question Reminders: For session completion, tool approval requests, and the AI asking you a question, it plays different notification sounds (each with a distinct effect, with toggle and preview support) and displays a character illustration. Illustrations support upload, cropping, and flipping.
- Appearance Customization: Supports horizontal flipping, zoom, position adjustment, and opacity settings for background images (URL or local). You can adjust the opacity of the sidebar, bubbles, input area, and code blocks, as well as collapse the input area when it loses focus.
- File Change View: Aggregates Agent file modifications (write / edit / str_replace_editor) by turn. Provides line-level diffs (added lines in green, deleted lines in red) and syntax-highlighted comparison of before and after code changes, with side-by-side viewing support.
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installing, ensure that DSH CLI is installed and that Web mode (dsh --profile web) is used.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:LimBoo233/dsh-web-extras
After installation, restart dsh and refresh the browser page for the changes to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
After installation, two new entries appear on the browser settings page, and a “File Changes” tab appears among the session tabs.
- Configure Reminders: In “Reminder Settings” on the settings page, enable sounds and illustrations for the three events separately. You can upload local images and use the cropping tool to adjust the size and position of illustrations. If an illustration disappears unexpectedly, click “Crop and Save” to restore it.
- Customize Appearance: In the “Appearance” settings, enter a background image URL or upload a local image, and adjust zoom, position, flipping, and opacity through live preview. Expand “Advanced Options” to globally adjust interface opacity and input-area collapse behavior.
- View File Changes: In the session tabs, click “File Changes” and view the file list by turn. After expanding a file, you can enable both the “Line-Level Diffs” and “Highlighted Comparison” views to compare side by side. The highlighted comparison shows only the “After” version by default, while the “Before” version can be expanded.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Browser-Only Implementation: This plugin is a Client plugin and does not include Host-side code. All configuration and image data are stored in the local browser (localStorage/IndexedDB) and do not pass through any server.
- Data Privacy: Notification sounds are synthesized in real time by Web Audio and do not depend on audio files. Data is stored only in this browser and will be lost after clearing browser data or switching devices.
- Compatibility: Horizontal flipping of background images has no restrictions for local images; for URL-based images, the server must allow cross-origin reads (CORS), otherwise the feature will automatically fall back.
Summary¶
dsh-web-extras enhances the experience of debugging agents by adding interactive feedback and visualization capabilities to the Web interface. It is suitable for developers who need instant notifications, custom UI styles, and clear file-change records during debugging.
