Introduction¶
The core philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” Disk management in Windows environments often involves high operational risk and severe consequences from accidentally deleting system files. dsh-disk-cleaner aims to address this pain point by providing developers and users with a safe solution for disk space analysis and cleanup.
Plugin Overview¶
Name: dsh-disk-cleaner
Maintainer: L3n3L
Category: Client
License: MIT
The plugin is designed around the principle of “inspect first, then decide,” establishing a complete workflow through scanning, explanation, confirmation, cleanup, and result review. By default, it protects system directories, application directories, and important user files.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following capabilities:
- Space Overview and Analysis: Provides a space overview of the C drive and shows usage by category, such as temporary files, caches, logs, and so on.
- Smart Identification: Identifies temporary files, caches, logs, and large files.
- Recommendation Details: Provides the reason, size, and risk explanation for cleanup recommendations.
- Safe Preview: Offers a preview before cleanup; users must confirm before execution.
- Whitelist Validation: Validates paths against a whitelist and prioritizes using the Recycle Bin or quarantine area.
- Result Feedback: Displays cleanup progress, skip reasons, and a final result report.
- History Logs: Provides an undoable cleanup history to prevent accidental operations.
Current Status and Security Principles¶
The plugin repository has been created, and the scanner, rule engine, and Web console are under development. Deletion capabilities will be enabled only after security boundaries and testing have been improved.
The security design follows these principles:
- Deterministic Rules: AI is responsible for explanation and recommendations, but the determination of which files can be processed must rely on deterministic rules and whitelists.
- Default Protection: Arbitrary paths are not deleted by default.
- Privacy Security: User files are not uploaded to external services.
Installation and Enabling¶
The plugin exists as a DSH module and depends on @deepseek-ai/cordis. Ensure the peer dependency requirements are met during installation (Node.js >= 22, @deepseek-ai/cordis ^4.0.1).
DSH loads plugins via configuration files. According to the configuration in package.json, the plugin is integrated through the dsh.bundle.patch field. For the specific enabling method, refer to DSH’s standard plugin loading mechanism.
Typical Usage¶
The usage workflow mainly includes the following steps:
- Start Scanning: The plugin starts the scanner and analyzes C drive space usage.
- View Categories: Use the Web console to view usage details for each category.
- Preview and Confirm: Review the specific file list, sizes, and risk explanations, then confirm the cleanup items.
- Execute Cleanup: After confirmation, the plugin performs cleanup using deterministic rules, prioritizing moving items to the Recycle Bin or quarantine area.
- View Report: After cleanup, review progress, results, and the undoable history.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Applicable Scenarios: Insufficient C drive space where temporary files, caches, or logs need to be cleaned up safely; developers or users who need to understand disk usage structures.
- Notes:
- The plugin runs with DSH process privileges; ensure you trust the source code.
- Deletion capabilities are not fully available yet, and some cleanup operations may still be in testing.
- Review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
Summary¶
dsh-disk-cleaner provides a secure and controllable Windows disk management solution. Through its whitelist mechanism and undoable history, it reduces the risk of accidental deletion and is suitable for developers who need to integrate disk cleanup functionality in a DSH environment.
