DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture that allows users to extend functionality through plugins. For agent developers, experimental presets (such as dsh-anchored-standard) provide different behavioral templates, but manually copying directories to the preset root directory is both tedious and error-prone. The dsh-anchored-preset-installer plugin automatically materializes experimental presets into the user preset root directory, eliminating the need for manual cp steps.

Plugin Purpose

dsh-anchored-preset-installer is a DSH plugin designed to provide one-click delivery of the dsh-anchored-standard experimental preset. It was developed by maintainer kirkchinese under the MIT license.

Core Features

  1. Preset directory writing: Writes the preset directory into the user preset root directory (typically $DSH_HOME/.agent-presets).
  2. Preset option display: Displays preset options in the session preset selector.
  3. Clean runtime: No network requests, no telemetry, and no runtime listeners; the plugin remains inert after being applied.

Installation and Enablement

Install it using the official command:

dsh plugin --profile web add -w github:kirkchinese/dsh-anchored-preset-installer

If there is no global dsh binary, you can run it with npx:

npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add -w github:kirkchinese/dsh-anchored-preset-installer

After installation is complete, restart DeepSeek Harness (press Ctrl+C first, then run dsh web or npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web).

Typical Usage

  1. Select a preset: After restarting, create a blank session. In the session preset selector, choose “Anchored Standard (experimental)”, “Zero-Anchored Standard (experimental)”, or “Whoami Standard (experimental)”.
  2. Verify the installation: Run the following command in the terminal to verify that the plugin is active:
    npx @deepseek-ai/dsh --profile web --dump-config | grep -A2 anchored-preset-installer
Before the restart, this command should return a line containing `id: anchored-preset-installer`. After the restart, the preset selector should list all three presets, and the directory should contain the marker file.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Directory restriction: The plugin writes only to the trusted user preset root directory (typically $DSH_HOME/.agent-presets) and does not write to other locations.
  • Create-only mechanism: If the preset directory already exists, the plugin skips creation and preserves the user’s existing edits. After the preset directory is created, user modifications will not be overwritten.
  • Fault isolation: Failures for each preset are isolated and logged; a plugin entry will not cause configuration file startup failures.
  • Maintenance and source: The preset files are copies from the upstream repository; after applying the plugin, the plugin itself no longer generates network requests or runtime listeners.

This plugin simplifies the deployment process for experimental presets. The source code and documentation are available on GitHub.
