Introduction

The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” During development or use, a single interface and default sound effects may not meet personalized needs. If you need to add visual background and audio control capabilities to the client environment, you can use dsh-ambience. This plugin persists settings in localStorage, enabling localized customization of the interface ambience.

Plugin Positioning

dsh-ambience is a pure client-side plugin maintained by Hyna-hla, intended to provide DSH with custom background image and background music playback features. Its core value is that it does not interfere with the frontend UI while providing full audio processing capabilities. The project is licensed under the MIT License.

Core Features

The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:

  • Background Image
Supports importing JPG, PNG, or WebP formats. The background image has fading effects, including opacity adjustment, blur processing, and a breathing fade animation. The image layer is semi-transparent and will not obscure frontend UI content.
  • Background Music
Supports importing FLAC, MP3, WAV, or M4A audio formats. The volume control range is between 0% and 200%. Playlist supports repeat and shuffle modes.
  • Audio Processing
Built-in 10-band equalizer, with support for presets, preamp, and bypass features.
  • Control Panel
A floating bar is located in the bottom-right corner. Clicking it expands the settings panel.

Installation & Activation

This plugin requires manually placing the build artifacts into the DSH profile directory and registering it through a configuration file.

  1. Copy Files
Copy the build artifacts into the profile’s node_modules\dsh-ambience directory (or introduce it using a file: dependency). Ensure the directory structure is complete.

  2. Register the Plugin
Edit the cordis.patch.yml file under the profile and add the following configuration:

    - insert:
        - id: dsh-ambience
          name: dsh-ambience
  1. Restart and Load
Restart the DeepSeek Harness process. On startup, the plugin loads the single-file client bundle through the window.__ModuleLoader__.load handshake mechanism.

Technical Details & Notes

  • Runtime Mechanism
This is a pure client-side plugin; the Host provides only a stub. The plugin runs on the Web platform, is injected with slots and theme, and executes immediately.
  • Dependencies
Dependencies include @deepseek-ai/cordis and react (optional).
  • Configuration Persistence
User settings in the panel are automatically saved to localStorage, with the key name dsh-ambience:v1.
  • Source Code Review
Before installation, it is recommended to review the source code and license. Although the project uses the MIT License, as a local plugin, it is necessary to verify that its behavior meets expectations.

Summary

dsh-ambience provides DeepSeek Harness with basic visual and audio environment customization capabilities. By setting an appropriate background and adjusting the equalizer, it can improve the experience of long-running use. For more details, refer to the GitHub repository.
