Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) follows the “everything is a plugin” philosophy. When managing multiple dialogue roles or agents, the dsh-digital-life plugin provides a solution for installing configurable conversational digital-life agents as Host and Client Cordis plugins. It supports persisting agent identities and allows invoking these agents in standalone sessions or the main conversation.

Installation

Run the following commands in the root directory of the DSH repository:

cd /path/to/deepseek-harness
pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/elonnzhang/dsh-digital-life.git

After installation, start the Web Profile (pnpm dsh web --port 3080) and open Settings → Digital Life in the browser.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following core capabilities:

  1. Persistence and Storage: records are saved in the digital-life settings namespace, and each agent’s identity file is stored at $DSH_HOME/digital-life/<id>/agents/<id>.md.
  2. Identity Import: supports importing agent identities from ~/.agent/agents/xxx.md and ~/.claude/agents/xxx.md (YAML frontmatter is ignored, and the Markdown body becomes the runtime identity).
  3. Management Interface: adds a Harness-style settings section that supports creating, editing, enabling, and deleting records.
  4. Tool Invocation:
    • consult_digital_life(id, question): initiates a single standalone consultation.
    • consult_digital_life_category(category, question): concurrently consults multiple records in a specified category.
  5. Session Injection: injects into the Chat Panel via the sidebar.footer.action Slot, creating a standalone session without a Workspace.

Typical Usage

1. Configure an Agent

Add a record on the Settings page and fill in the ID (lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens), name, description, category, tags, and Persona. If the Agent file path is not specified, the Persona is automatically written to the management file.

2. Start a Consultation

Enter @id (for example, @startup-mentor) in the Composer to invoke the consult_digital_life tool. In the configuration, set Subagent Provider to spawn.

3. Standalone Session

Launch it via the Chat Panel or the home-page selector. The session has no Workspace (workspaceId/cwd) and is forced to use a read-only file sandbox.

Notes

  1. Build Dependency: the repository must include a built lib/ directory because package.json points to the built files.
  2. Identity Source: external Agent files remain separate and are not overwritten; the Markdown body is used when saving internally.
  3. Category Restriction: new records using the custom category should set customCategory.
  4. Updates: to update the plugin, build it on the repository side first, then run pnpm dsh plugin --profile web update dsh-digital-life.

Summary

The plugin provides DSH with a standardized digital-life management solution, suitable for scenarios that require fixed-role dialogue or batch consultation.
