Preface¶
When configuring a workspace in the DeepSeek Harness Web interface, the default directory selection behavior may invoke the operating system’s native file chooser. This native dialog can fragment the user experience and is inconsistent with the overall style of the Web interface. The web-directory-picker plugin resolves this issue by applying a composition patch that forces directory selection to use the official in-app browse dialog bundled with DSH.
Plugin Scope¶
This is a DeepSeek Harness composition plugin maintained by developer daemtri and released under the MIT license. It contains no runtime code itself; instead, it declares a dsh.bundle.patch to modify DSH’s composition layer configuration and directly use the built-in components provided by the product.
Core Features¶
- Disable automatic detection: Disable the logic that automatically selects the host OS native directory chooser at startup.
- Pin the composition pair: Force the combination of the official browse module (including the host backend and browser surface), ensuring the
dsh-client-ui-directory-picker-browsecomponent is used.
Installation and Removal¶
Both installation and removal require restarting the DSH process to take effect.
Install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:daemtri/web-directory-picker
Remove the plugin (restore default behavior):
dsh plugin --profile web remove web-directory-picker
The dsh plugin add command runs pnpm add in the profile workspace. Because the package declares dsh.bundle.patch, it automatically registers web-directory-picker in the profile’s dsh.profile.bundles composition layer.
Notes¶
- No runtime code: The package contains no runtime code and only modifies composition relationships through a patch declaration.
- Depends on official components: It directly composes the official browse pair, and both components are bundled with and installed in the product.
- Requires restart: DSH must be restarted after configuration changes.
Summary¶
After using this plugin, the “Add Workspace” option in the left sidebar and the workspace selector on the new session page will open the product’s built-in Web directory browsing dialog, providing a unified experience for localization, creating new folders, and breadcrumb navigation.
