Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a pluggable architecture and aims to extend functionality through community contributions. When using the Composer input field, reusing prompts that have already been sent in the current session usually requires copy-and-paste or switching windows. The dsh-prompt-history plugin provides in-place browsing and restoration of prompt history inside the Composer input field via keyboard shortcuts, without leaving the current context.

Plugin Overview

This is a DSH community plugin maintained by cw1999mm under the MIT license. It listens for keyboard events to enable quick navigation of prompt history in the Composer input area.

Core Features

  1. History browsing: Supports browsing prompts sent in the current session—including user messages and guide nodes—using the ↑ and ↓ keys. The list is sorted with the most recently sent prompt first.
  2. Deduplication and collapsing: Consecutive duplicate prompts are automatically collapsed to reduce UI clutter.
  3. Multi-line draft protection: The plugin respects the editing state of multi-line drafts and triggers ↑ browsing only when the caret is on the first line. If the caret is on another line, ↑ is treated as a normal input character.
  4. Automatic exit and restore: Browsing mode exits automatically when a message is sent or the session is switched. Pressing ↓ past the most recent prompt restores your saved original draft content.
  5. Event binding: Keyboard events are bound to the Composer card component ([data-composer-card]), so they do not interfere with global input fields such as sidebar search.

Installation and Enablement

This plugin requires DeepSeek Harness Web Profile support.

  1. Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:cw1999mm/dsh-prompt-history
  1. After installation, restart or refresh the Web UI to load the plugin.

Typical Usage

  1. Enter content in the Composer or leave it as a draft; the draft is saved automatically.
  2. Move the caret to the first line of the input field and press ↑ to load the most recently sent prompt.
  3. Continue pressing ↑ or ↓ to move through the history. A “History x/y” badge appears in the top-left corner of the input field to show the current position.
  4. To return to the original draft, press ↓ past the most recent prompt or send the message directly.

Use Cases and Notes

  • Use cases: Scenarios where you need to quickly reuse or fine-tune prompts already sent in the current session.
  • Notes: The plugin is only supported on the Web platform; the UI must be restarted after installation for the plugin to take effect.
