The ecosystem philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” During conversations, annotating, quoting, and adding personal opinions to specific text is a common need. dsh-annotator is a community plugin designed to address this pain point, allowing users to handle text and annotations directly within the conversation flow.

Plugin Overview

This plugin is maintained by user cw1999mm. It allows users to select any text in DeepSeek Harness chat history, add an annotation, and compile the final result into a message formatted as a Markdown blockquote.

Core Features

  • Text Selection and Marking
After dragging to select text in the chat history, a floating “Annotate” button is immediately displayed below the selection. Only selections that are entirely within the chat history container trigger this marking.
  • Modal Editor
Clicking the button opens a modal. The left side displays the selected source text being quoted, while the right side provides an input area for the annotation.
  • Compilation and Submission
After writing the annotation, the user can click Send (or press the shortcut ⌘/Ctrl+Enter). The system compiles the quoted text into > quoted text format, appends the annotation below it, and submits the message through the main editor.
  • Memory Management
Internally, the plugin uses ctx.effect to clean up global effects. Uninstalling or removing the plugin does not cause global listener leaks.

Installation and Enabling

To use this plugin, you first need a web profile in DeepSeek Harness (the example uses web as the profile name).

dsh plugin --profile web add github:cw1999mm/dsh-annotator

After installation, refresh or restart the web UI to load the plugin.

Usage

  1. Select any text in the conversation history.
  2. Click the floating “Annotate” button that appears below the selection.
  3. Write an annotation in the editor that pops up.
  4. Click the send arrow (or press ⌘/Ctrl+Enter).

The system automatically sends a combined message containing the blockquote and annotation.

Notes

  • Environment Requirements: It must be running through a DeepSeek Harness web profile.
  • Source Code Review: The plugin is released under the MIT License. Before installing a community plugin, it is recommended to review the source code to ensure it meets your personal usage preferences or security standards.

Summary

dsh-annotator provides DSH users with lightweight conversational annotation capabilities, making it especially suitable for scenarios where you need to organize key conversation points or record citation sources.
