DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture with high extensibility. When working with SillyTavern character cards, world books, and preset files, developers often need to switch frequently between the local file system, a JSON editor, and DSH. The dsh-stcardwriter plugin integrates the SillyTavern authoring environment into DSH, providing a localized and visual resource management solution.

This plugin is maintained by bychv, is licensed under the MIT License, and is intended to solve the management, preview, and migration of multi-format resources.

Core Features

  • Tavern Authoring Mode and Workbench: This plugin supports DeepSeek Harness 0.1.2-rc.1. It provides the Tavern Authoring Mode Agent preset and a three-pane workbench. The left pane is used to connect to Harness and manage projects, the middle pane is used to edit resources, and the right pane is used to edit world book injection content and supports real-time preview.
  • Mode Switching: At the top of the tavern workbench, you can switch between Standard Mode and Minimal Mode using the Tool Mode dropdown. Minimal Mode retains only the tavern_* tavern resource tools and a small number of interaction tools, hiding Shell, file operations, and other tools to reduce the context consumed by tool definitions.
  • Local Connector: It includes a built-in local SillyTavern connector that communicates directly through local files. It does not depend on HTTP APIs and is not limited by CSRF or authentication requirements. Synchronization can be performed even when the tavern is not running.
  • Format Support and Repair: It supports recognition and editing of Character Card V1/V2/V3. It supports world book format checking and repair, and supports Preset Plus 0.1.5.
  • Resource Management: It supports batch import of character card files (.json, .png, .charx, .zip). It preserves arbitrary files inside a CHARX archive other than card.json, as well as PNG binary resources.

Installation and Enablement

Install it using the official CLI:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:bychv/dsh-stcardwriter

After installing or upgrading, restart DSH Host. On first startup, two Agent modes, tavern-authoring and preset-plus, will be created automatically.

Typical Usage

  1. Activate Preset Plus: In the DSH settings, under Preset Enhancement, create, import, or activate a Preset Plus preset.
  2. Select the Mode: Create a new session and select Tavern Authoring Mode. At this point, the Preset Plus preset and the full set of tavern_* tools will be active at the same time.
  3. Import Resources: Open the Tavern Authoring panel. You can create an empty project or batch-import .json, .png, .charx, or .zip files.
  4. Connect to a Local Tavern: In the connector panel, enter the SillyTavern directory (the installation root directory or the data/<user> directory) to connect. This allows you to browse and synchronize local tavern resources.
  5. Switch Tool Mode: Use the Tool Mode dropdown at the top of the tavern workbench to switch between Standard Mode and Minimal Mode as needed.

Notes

  • Dependencies: This plugin is not currently published to npm and must be installed directly from GitHub.
  • Agent Data Reading: Agent project reading returns only a summary by default. You must explicitly pass the detail=full parameter to obtain the full JSON.
  • Data Safety: Normalized export operations do not rewrite source resources in the workspace. To persist changes, use the repair tool or export directly.
  • Script Execution: Format checking does not execute scripts inside cards and does not test the availability of third-party extensions.
  • Permissions and Isolation: The connector communicates directly through local files and does not involve HTTP permission issues. The tool directory simplification feature only changes tool visibility and does not affect permission isolation or sandbox boundaries.
