Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) supports functional expansion through plugins. Configuring retry counts for specific providers during model inference is a common debugging or resilience measure. This plugin adds a single configuration item to the Web interface, consolidating retry budget management—normally scattered or requiring configuration file edits—into the Settings page.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is a DeepSeek Harness Web plugin used to configure the model request retry budget for active providers. The project is hosted on GitHub under the MIT license and is maintained by the user 502399493zjw-lgtm. It allows users to adjust this value intuitively via the Settings → General interface.
Core Features¶
The plugin implements the following logic:
1. UI Integration: Adds a numeric input row to the general settings section of the Settings page, displaying the applicable provider scope.
2. Value Control: Supports entering finite non-negative integers (including 0) to directly control the retry limit.
3. Automatic Discovery: Discovers currently active and configurable providers by reading llm.providers.
4. Policy Handling:
* For the “normal/default” policy, writes to retryPolicy.maxRetries.
* For the “always” policy, maintains unlimited retries.
* Preserves existing backoff and retryable code fields, without interfering with DSH’s native retry execution and backoff behavior.
5. Safe Writing: Uses version-controlled settings.mutate calls to modify settings and avoid concurrent conflicts.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use the official installation command to add the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add @zhongjingwei/dsh-model-retry@0.1.0-rc.9
After installation, the Web interface must be restarted for the configuration to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Open
Settings → Generalin the Web interface. - Find the new “retry count” configuration row and change the value from the default (e.g., 2) to 5.
- The plugin updates
retryPolicy.maxRetriesto 5 via the API. - In subsequent model requests, if a request fails, DSH will execute retries 1/5 through 5/5 until the sixth request succeeds or the configured limit is reached.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Version Dependency: The plugin is only compatible with DSH
0.1.0-rc.8. That version moved retry configuration into the provider configuration, and the plugin completes the write using the published settings API. - Runtime Environment: Requires Node.js version
^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0. - Architecture: This is an external Cordis plugin and does not modify DSH core code.
Summary¶
This plugin provides a lightweight entry point for configuring the retry budget in DSH, suitable for scenarios where model fault-tolerance strategies need to be adjusted quickly through the Web interface. The plugin source code and details can be found in its GitHub repository.
