Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, intended to extend the functionality of Web bundles through plugins. In DSH 0.1.0-rc.8, the Chat component is the core interaction interface. If execution processes are stacked directly in the existing interface, the UI can become cluttered. The dsh-chat-fold plugin provides a cleaner way to manage these execution details by wrapping native components.

Plugin Overview

dsh-chat-fold is an optional DSH Web bundle. Its core role is to add per-turn execution folding to the standard Chat view. The plugin is locked to the DSH 0.1.0-rc.8 runtime.

Core Features

After installation, the plugin does not register new tabs; instead, it wraps existing Chat items in place.

  • Execution row grouping: The plugin hides each turn’s Execution rows behind a collapsible group named Execution process · N steps.
  • Automatic toggling: When a turn starts running, the collapsible group expands automatically; when the turn ends, it collapses automatically.
  • Native rendering: Expanding the collapsible group renders the registered native Context, Think, Tool, command, Goal, and Workflow surfaces, preserving their original internal display logic.
  • Content isolation: User messages, final assistant answers, and native Turn tail remain outside the collapsible group.

Installation and Enablement

The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-chat-fold@0.1.0-rc.9

After installation, the Web process must be restarted and the browser refreshed for the changes to take effect.

Typical Usage

After installation, the Chat interface automatically applies the folding logic. To remove the plugin and restore the previous state, run:

dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-chat-fold

Applicable Scenarios and Caveats

  • Version dependency: This plugin is a short-term integration for DSH 0.1.0-rc.8. The rc.8 release does not expose an interface for intercepting registered Chat items. Therefore, the plugin achieves this through component replacement and function injection while preserving the component’s IDs, tabs, stores, and renderSlot bindings.
  • Fallback mechanism: If the wrapping process fails, the plugin renders the captured original Chat component and keeps its native attributes unchanged.
  • Pre-upgrade checks: Before upgrading the DSH version, it is recommended to rerun the tarball smoke tests and interaction tests to ensure compatibility.

Conclusion

dsh-chat-fold provides a solution for optimizing the Chat viewing experience without changing the DSH foundation. It folds execution details, allowing users to focus on the conversation itself. For more details and the source code, refer to its GitHub repository.
