Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture and supports extending functionality through plugins. The default web interface has a white background, which can make the reading experience feel plain. deepseek-harness-skin is a local plugin designed to provide an anime-style background skin for the DSH web interface, enhancing the UI through CSS style overrides.
What It Is¶
deepseek-harness-skin is a local plugin maintained by developer Zdram under the MIT open-source license. It modifies the rendering layer of the web interface, adding background images and semi-transparent glassmorphism effects to the chat and settings panels, helping users enjoy a more personalized visual experience when developing agents.
Features¶
- Full-screen fixed background: The background image fills the entire screen and remains fixed instead of scrolling with the page.
- Readability optimization: A very light overlay is placed above the background to ensure chat content remains clearly readable.
- Glassmorphism UI: The sidebar, chat area, and settings panel use light, semi-transparent styling.
- State retention: When switching conversations, the background remains persistent and does not flash back to white.
- Custom image: In addition to the default background image, local images can be configured as backgrounds.
- Format support: Common image formats such as PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF are supported.
Installation and Enablement¶
After installing the plugin, you must restart the DeepSeek Harness process for it to take effect.
- Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin (targeting the
webprofile by default):
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Zdram/deepseek-harness-skin
- After restarting DSH, open the web interface to see the background image and semi-transparent panel effects.
Typical Usage¶
Custom Local Background¶
If you want to use your own anime image as the background, edit the configuration file for the corresponding profile.
-
Find the configuration file path:
- Windows:%USERPROFILE%\.dsh\profiles\web\cordis.patch.yml
- Linux / macOS:~/.dsh/profiles/web/cordis.patch.yml -
Add the following configuration item at the end of the file:
- id: deepseek-harness-skin
config:
background: 'D:/Pictures/bg.png'
- Save the file and restart DSH.
Verify Installation¶
After installation is complete, you can verify that the plugin loads correctly by accessing the built-in test URL:
http://127.0.0.1:3080/deepseek-harness-skin/bg.png
If the image is displayed normally, the plugin is enabled.
Notes¶
- Path format: On Windows, use forward slashes
/when configuring the image path (for example,D:/Pictures/bg.png) to avoid path parsing errors. - Path fallback: If the configured local image path does not exist, the plugin automatically falls back to the built-in default background image.
- Profile limitation: Each profile should contain only one
deepseek-harness-skinentry; duplicate entries overwrite previous configuration. - Restart required: A restart of DeepSeek Harness is required for any configuration changes (including background image changes) or after plugin installation to take effect.
